Amazon.com Product Description
Tired of that battery-powered screwdriver being dead when you need it most? Here’s an alternative. Surprisingly powerful and stunningly lightweight, Black & Decker’s 3.6-Volt Cordless Screwdriver features the best energy-to-weight ratio and longest-lasting charge available. Just the right weight and style for assembling furniture, hanging curtains, and mounting light fixtures, this tool is powered by a lithium-ion battery that holds a charge up to 18 months longer than comparable nickel-cadmium-powered drivers.

A very forgiving power screwdriver for those who hate cords but frequently forget to recharge, the lithium-ion battery also helps this tool deliver 20 percent more power than Ni-Cad tools. When it is time for a recharge, a fixed, internal battery lets you just drop the whole tool into the included charging base, rather than detaching it from the tool and attaching it to the charger, a process that sometimes takes longer than driving the darn screw. Half the size of most screwdrivers in its class, this tool is great for working in tight quarters and around tough corners.

Powerful and durable enough for years of household use, the tool’s pistol grip makes overhead driving a much more comfortable task than you’ll experience with in-line drivers that require an uncomfortably bent elbow that shortens reach. And, at just 2.6 pounds, there’s no more dying strain to finish extended overhead driving tasks. Not that there’ll be such a thing as extended applications. This driver spins screws at 180 rotations per minute and churns out 48-inch pounds of torque, easily rivaling most drill/drivers pound for pound, and definitely providing a welcome rest for the wrist. Best of all, Black and Decker’s Grab-N-Go charger mounts to walls for easy access. The purchase is covered by a 2-year manufacturer warranty. --Brian Olson

From the Manufacturer
The compact screwdriver's performance and unique design make it the perfect tool for any task in and around your home. The new Lithium Ion battery technology helps deliver 20% more power (torque) and won't loose charge for 18-months so the LI3000 is ready for use when you are. The grab-n-go charger, which can also be mounted onto the wall, keeps the unit ready and easily accessible.

Usefull, but could be improved!3
This is a nice little tool that you can keep in a kitchen drawer or your car for a pretty long time and not worry about it loosing its charge. I really like the small compact size. It also has a decent accessory set with it.

Here is where I think it needs improvement:

*No variable control (on or off only)
*The speed is pretty slow
*No clutch which makes it difficult tighten any screw on with any accuracy w/o taking out another manual screw driver to finish it off.
*not enough power to tackle even a 1-1/4 wood screw into a 2x*
* You cant lock the shaft (I would want this to finish tightening a screw that this unit doesnt have enough power for)

I realize this tool is not designed to replace a larger cordless drill and this does have many uses, but with todays technology B&D can do better.

This is one cool cordless tool!4
At $29.99, this is a cool deal! I love mine. It is always ready to go....and I don't have to always drag out the larger cordless drill. The accessories that came with it are great too. I also bought a grinder from Ace to fit on it so I can sharpen my garden tools with it. I use mine a lot, but to be honest I have not tried to put 3" screws in hardwood. I would not trade mine in, it fits a niche in my tool cabinet and I am glad I have it.

Can't believe how great this is... and SO cheap!5
I just bought the LI3000 a couple weeks ago (here) for my girlfriend, and it blows me away how handy this little thing is. I'd read all of the reviews here and kind of had my fingers crossed about the whole thing. Turns out, it's better than I could've hoped for. No more borrowing the neighbors' 18v cordless drill for us, the LI3000 is more than enough for everything we need around the house. A little background - I'm an electrician with a habit of tearing into anything that I can just to see how it works (from TVs to clocks to iPods), and my girlfriend is a designer who rebuilds furniture in her spare time. Our walls are so full of holes, there might be more spackle than sheet rock anymore, but getting back to the drill... I mean "screwdriver", it's amazing. We have some drill bits with 1/4" hex drivers, and I've tapped several holes through 2x4" oak already. Hanging pictures, drapes, cupboards, etc. has been so easy it's hard to imagine loving this little driver more. Oh, I almost forgot. I read reviews here where-in people complained there wasn't a "clutch" mode. I can attest that's completely false. There is a clutch mode and it works fine. I think it turns at a very well controlled speed, and honestly, I can't think of anything I'd change. Love it!
