Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Model T-635HT offers the perfect combination of portability and power. At 27 lbs. and 69 decibels it is the lightest and quietest unit available that is capable of supporting a framing gun. It's ideal for the contractor that needs to power his framing gun but does not want to lug around a 70 lb. compressor. Its small compact design and low center of gravity makes it nearly impossible to tip over. Drawing only 6 amps it can be used anywhere without circuit breaker or fuse problems. Rated for continuous use it will not burn up if given hard use. Other uses include, tire inflation, painting, air brushing, small air tools, and winterizing sprinkler systems and water lines on RV's and mobile homes.

Thomas 25T-635HT What a Gem!
This compressor is a great compromise between power and portability. I own a larger Thomas 4 gallon twin stack and I love it. Great power, low noise, always reliable. I couldn't imagine any compressor more desireable until I met this smaller beauty.
Only 27 lbs, 14"x14"x12" and able run a framing gun all day. Only 6 amp draw so it can be used anywhere and rated for 100% duty cycle (continuous running, if needed)Recovery time is under 15 seconds.
This is a great indoor machine (easy to move and maneuver) so you can do simple trim projects or punch list items. The quiet running, quick recovery and compact dimensions make it great for work in a home while people are around. The other side of the coin is the amount of power it shows when you need to do framing or roofing.
This is not a toy compressor in any way. It is perfect to take on most any job, or a job with lots of changing requirements.
The reliability has been 100% (it is a Thomas!) and I feel it is worth every penny of the price.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
update 040709
I'm still very happy with this compressor. The reliability has been perfect. My original review mentioned using this unit for framing or roofing. You can certainly do either, but if you use a "bump and run" approach to framing, after about 10 "shots", the compressor will need to recycle several seconds before you can go "bump, bump" again. For framing, this unit should be used single shot trigger style, which means it is over matched for production style framing work. Still, a great compressor when used trigger style single shots with any type of gun.
I'd give it 5* again.
Great, most of the time -updated
I bought this compressor based on great reviews for Thomas products on Amazon. There were no reviews for this model at the time and I had never seen one before. I do finish carpentry and was looking for a light, quiet compressor that was more substantial than the mini Senco or Dewalt models but could carry easily. I assumed it was made in the U.S. but it doesn't say it anywhere on the unit. I am mostly happy after almost a year of use. Some disappointments are; I've had trouble with it starting up on some 15 amp circuits- even directly plugged into the wall (and after draining it and opening the drain valve and only days old). It has trouble with cold starts at times, despite sticker on tank that says "cold weather starts". It is not loud but I wouldn't call mine "quiet". You can talk over it but not at normal levels. I worked with another carpenter who had the Thomas 2 gallon, 3.7 amp model yesterday and his was noticeably quieter. Not a huge deal though.
Other items for your information. No good spot to run a chain through for locking it up. Corners on base are pointy so be careful when carrying it. Before recycling mine will last 4 shots with my Hitachi 2 1/2 " finish gun or 12 shots with my Porter Cable 2" brad nailer. Recycling is pretty fast. Pressure level is excellent but don't do too many fast shots in a row or you'll be pulling out the nail set. I would definitely not recommend it for framing. 95% of the time it is perfect for my use. I had thought of returning it due to the startup problem but I didn't know of a better alternative. P.s. I recommend putting a "T" or "L" on the output so it won't protrude too much. Update, 9-29-08, Still going strong, hasn't had the startup problem for about six months (warm up period?) so I would change my recommendation to four stars if I could...
Great all-around!!!!
Already used this little gem for trimming a custom kitchen. What a great compressor. Has enough storage capacity to run my 15 ga. consistently all day. Very quiet and light-weight; making it a joy to put in the back of the F-250 at the end of a long day. Very quick recovery time as well. Would recommend it to anyone who needs a full day, every day compressor.
