Publisher Comments5
Professor Richard Sheil lays out the fundamentals for singing accurately and clearly in the crucial languages for singers: Roman Church Latin, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, and Russian.

Emeritus professor of music in the State University of New York, Richard F. Sheil guides students, singers and anyone who wishes to sing properly in a foreign language through an education of the highest degree. His writing is clear and lively. His comprehensive text will be an indispensable tool for every singer from established professionals to voice majors to those who want to sing in church on Sunday morning. A lesson from Professor Sheil will revitalize your expression of all these languages.

This book has saved my life on more than one occasion5
Dr. Sheil's approach to Diction was highly effective in the late 70's, and it most certainly is, now. As a former student of his, this book and I were very close friends during my Freshman year in the studio and in Diction class.

As a voice teacher for twenty-two years, I have used this book constantly for my own reference, and for my students' preparation and homework. I have recommended it to a number of colleagues in the Public Schools, who have had great success with it, as well.

It can be a bit unruly for the beginner, but, as the semester passes, and as one becomes more familiar with the book and uses it repeatedly, it will be a valuable tool.

Suffice it to say, I am very happy to see it is still in print and still in use.
