Great watch, shame about the instructions
This is a first impression review because my wife gave this to me today as a Christmas gift.

The watch is extremely nice to look at and comes in an impressive box to match, it's waterproof and has a clearly laid out display. I think that the watch looks a lot nicer in the real life than it does in the pictures and the quality is very good for the price.

I have given the five star rating because of the overall quality, practicality and appearance of the product.

The only fault I've found so far is in the provided instruction manual. The instructions booklet is fairly thick but is a generic manual that covers several Diesel watch models in several different languages. That would be perfectly acceptable if it weren't for the fact that this model itself is not covered at all.

So having fiddled for quite a while I have finally managed to work out how to set the time - here is what the Diesel manual doesn't (and really should) tell you...

Instructions To Set The Time On The Diesel DZ7071 Watch

Ok the first and most important thing to know about this watch is that it has an unusual timezone function (unusual to me at least). This allows the watch to display two different times. Time 1 (or T1) is the primary time (the time of the place where you spend most of your time!). The time can only be adjusted whilst the watch is in the T1 mode (T1 should be displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen). Holding down the top right button for one or two seconds will temporarily replace the current T1 time with the T2 time. Holding down this same button for several seconds will toggle the current time mode to T2 and the watch will continue to function in the second time zone until you toggle it back to T1.

The second most important thing to know is that you can only set the time whilst in the T1 mode. When in T1 mode hold down the top left button until the watch enters the settings menu (it should say "Light" at the top of the screen) now use the bottom left button to toggle through the settings menu until you get to the time settings. I think this part of the process if sufficiently straight forward so I'm not going to go into more details here, all I'll add is that once you have the watch set to the desired time mode 12h/24h time and date you just need to press the top left button to save the settings and return to the main time screen.

To set a secondary timezone time you have to first toggle the watch to the secondary time zone mode (hold the top right button for several seconds and the T1 indicator should change to T2 (and the watch will now be displaying the time that is currently set for the secondary timezone). This time is based on the primary time by simply telling the watch a number of whole hours ahead or behind the primary time. To adjust this hold down the top left button for several seconds, the watch will then say "offset" now use the buttons on the right to add or subtract hours from the primary time. Once set press the top left button again to return to the main time screen. Finally hold down the top right button for several seconds once more to return the watch to the T1 mode.

I hope these instructions prove useful to somebody out there (I know they would have been for me as I spent quite a while trying to figure it out whilst in T2 mode).

If I could give a score of 4.5 (or 9/10) then I would simply because of the utterly useless manual, however since the watch itself is so good I have been good enough to overlook the manual and give the full five stars.

Diesel if you are reading this please note that a simple couple of pages would have been enough to cover what people need to know about setting up this watch.

It's simply beautiful
I just recieved my watch today. (I suppose this means that I haven't really had it long enough to write a proper review, but I just like it that much I felt I had to.) It's a beautiful watch. The quality and attention to detail is just stunning. It's simple, elegant and cool and retro all in one, and I'm very glad I bought it.

The user manual which came with the watch was over one centimeter thick, and contained information about a number of Diesel watches. Apart from this one. This meant that you had to figure out how to set it for yourself, which wasn't to hard. Still, I would have prefered to get some information about the different features and settings, rather than having to figure it all out on my own.
