Buy new: $44.40 My first step with a new lens is to put a UV filter on it. It doesn't cut the light (minimal) and is MUCH cheaper to replace if it gets scratched than the entire lens.
Add to that the circular polarizer and you will see your photos improve, bluer skies, greener trees, etc.

I'm choosing this camera for the higher resolution of both camera and LCD. I have been cataloging artwork for a friend and being able to clearly see the focus point in the LCD is critical for those photos.

Buy new: $34.08 I bought this for my a100. While it won't fully protect it from blowing dust or rain, it is a worthwhile purchase to keep the camera from getting scuffed or scratched.
Be aware though, it increases the size (aka feel) of your camera, so it may take some getting used to.
