Clutter—we all have it! Where does it come from? What is it? Some people may define it as “someone else’s stuff. My stuff is all good and it isn’t clutter!” Clutter comes from things that were once treasures, things we thought we couldn’t live without, but now have outlived their usefulness for us.

It’s time to take a good long look around at the stuff in each room in your home, including the garage and attic. It can get quite overwhelming as all the stuff is assessed. That’s OK. This report will help take clutter busting and organizing one step at a time.

The Clutter Busting process begins very simply:

WHAT: Positive self-talk! The first and most important tool in any job. Have an “I can do it” attitude.

HOW: Plan of action! A calendar is a must. A pad and pen to make a list of everything in each room that needs attention in the decluttering process. Keep this list handy. Break down the list by tasks, and prioritize them according to frustration factor.

WHERE: De-cluttering begins with your biggest frustration! Kitchen, bathroom, closet, dresser drawers, under bath cabinets, under the bed, bed-side table drawers, the clutter in the corner . . . where does clutter interfere with your life?

WHEN: Set an appointment with yourself to get started NOW! That is where the calendar comes in. Make an appointment for organizing. Block out three hours of time. Keep this appointment just as you would a doctor’s appointment.

WHY? Reasons for de-cluttering. Peace of mind is foremost, along with conserving your energy and making room for other things or people in your life. Decide what you will make room for in your life.
