The sequel to Rockstar's sinister action game about a man who wakes up in aliving nightmare where he is being stalked for sport and must sneak through theshadows and kill by whatever means he can devise in order to fight his way out.The sequel picks up with a new lead character, new gangs, a new storyline withgruesome twists and turns, and much more. The urban horrors of Cancer City aregone. Manhunt 2 takes place in a dark, shadowy, asylum filled with darkrealities and psychological turmoil.
Danny and Leo were subjects in a diabolical experiment that had gone wrong. Theywere the only two survivors. The game starts in a dingy asylum. You're Danny andyour goal is to escape and let no one stand in your way - guards, inmates, nurses, doctors - are all enemies. Can you? Leo talk to Danny throughout theentire escape. There are questions about Danny's sanity but you don't haveenough time to consider it as he rampages through the 'hospital' killing his wayfrom one level to the next. He is, of course, relentlessly pursued by a group ofviscous hunters who will also stop at nothing to finish Danny off. Activelypursued, the hunted Danny Lamb must tackle his way out of a nightmare where thestakes are as real as they are dangerous. While the core gameplay is stillsneaking, shooting, and performing stealth attacks, there are a number of newoptions available for players in this exciting new version that's ripe and readyfor the Wii. It's bound to be a major hit with Wii owners.
Like the original Manhunt, Manhunt 2 isn't for the faint-hearted ( ESRB ratingis M for Mature). Death scenes are particularly gruesome, gory and bloody.Improved AI and advanced graphics make the game seem more realistic. Coupledwith an eery soundtrack and sensational audio effects, Manhunt 2 is a sure-firesequel for fans in search for frenzied action, explosive gameplay, andpulse-tingling adventure.

Worth it, but only just...
If you loved the first Manhunt, you'll probably like the sequel enough to make it worth buying. The over all freaky, gritty, and gross feel of the first game is there. The basic mechanics work much the same way as well.
There are a few cool new features. You have to react to enemies searching for you in the shadows now. You can also climb and crawl.
But like it or not, the edited version DOES hinder the game playing experience. Manhunt is a perversely violent and demented trip through a nightmare world. It's SUPPOSED to be. The flashes of static every time you slash, stab, or bludgeon in execution mode does effectively mute the money shot. Manhunt 2 doesn't even contain half the gore of its predecessor. Sickos (like me) who enjoy playing games like this simply BECAUSE of their graphic nature, will (and should) feel cheated.
There are other disappointments. The graphics and physics are not any better than the first Manhunt's. In fact, thanks to the edits, they're probably worse. And the camera spins like crazy whenever you try and run from multiple enemies.
Buy it if you loved the first one. Buy it just to show that there is a vibrant adult market for games like this. But hopefully, once the silly controversy blows over, an adults only version will be available for purchase online.
Manhunt 2 will punch your balls off
If you liked the first one, you should enjoy this one.
The story is interesting, though I see where they're going with it. The graphics are definitely not state-of-the-art, nor do they need to be. Gives it a more gritty, sleazy feel. Nice touch on the health kits... very much in keeping with the character's mental state. The Wii controls are taking me a bit of getting used to, but I can tell once I get the hang they'll be a snap. So far as the controversial way Rockstar dealt with the executions... come on. If you are that hard up to see them go to youtube, there's a 10 minute "greatest hits" video highlighting all the unedited kills. At least we got the game. The sound design is outstanding and is making me rethink my career arc. A solid buy for only $40.00, and its only $30.00 for the PSP and PS2.
Finally here, for better or worse
Rockstar is no stranger to controversy, which Manhunt 2 garnered much of when it was labeled with an Adults Only rating not too long ago. Now, Manhunt 2 is finally here and carrying a Mature rating instead, but don't think that this game has been watered down a whole lot. If you played the original Manhunt, you'll feel right at home here as you play as escaped inmate Danny, who is on a mission to seek the truth. However, as the title of the game implies, you've got some trouble approaching on your tail in the form of hunters, who are looking to do some harm to you, which is saying it quite lightly. As with the first game, stealth is the name of the game, and it requires quite a bit of skill that proves pretty rewarding once you get the hang of it. The execution moves serve up ample amounts of blood and guts as well, even though a blurring effect has been added to the most violent scenes of the game. Manhunt 2 isn't without it's flaws though, including the fact that the game isn't really all that suspenseful compared to the first game. The atmosphere remains eerie, but it just feels like there's something missing here. The music and sound effects are well done, but the graphics engine looks incredibly dated. Gameplay wise, the stealth tricks work wonderfully, but the gunplay elements are rather disappointing in terms of style. The story is pretty engaging though, and it's good to have a gritty and adult-themed game on the Wii, no matter what controversy develops. All in all, the controversial Manhunt 2 is finally here, and it's definitely worth checking out, but whether or not it's worth adding to your library is entirely up to you.
