The 6 Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, and freezing. Lodge color porcelain enamel on cast iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom, sidewalls, and even the lid. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Knob is oven safe to 400 degrees. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture and the excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. 10 3/4" diameter, 4 1/2" deep. Emerald green

Beautiful Pot, Endless Uses
I love my Lodge Enamel Dutch Ovens, I have the 6 quart and the 3 quart. The 6 quart is the perfect size for families. I had a 5 quart pot and it wasn't quite big enough for us when we made big pots of chili, etc. One more quart in size doesn't sound like a lot but it is. You can fix a full 5 quarts of food and still have plenty of room to stir and simmer.
I love the enamel on cast. The enamel makes for a more versatile pot than regular cast. You can cook acidic foods in the enamel that can hurt the finish on your regular cast. You can also store in the enamel pot. When you are finished, just stick the pot in the refrigerator.
Cleanup is easy. Just wash out with soap and water. For stubborn stains, just add a little bleach with water and let soak. For stubborn stuck on foods, just boil some water with baking soda and it should loosen up. Scrub with a nylon scrubbie.
The green is a beautiful color but you can choose from several colors in the Lodge line to compliment your kitchen. Cast is so good for even cooking and heat rentention. It's a great addition to your kitchen and one you will treasure for years to come.
Wow!
Shipping of my Lodge 6 qt was delayed and I was
really getting antsy. The minute it finally arrived
I quickly thawed a pound of lean beef and whipped up
some Picadillo (Mexican ground beef dish suitable for
stuffing tacos as well).
I was blown away by the flavor. I've cooked a lot of
years, but I never realized that cookware can actually
make such an enormous difference. Used the same recipe
I've made for years, but the flavor was improved 2 or
3 times (really).
I was also surprised at how quickly it heated up over
just medium fire (they warn you not to cook any higher
than that, and now I understand why -- you don't need
to). I waited as advised for it to cool down before
washing and it cleanup up quickly with no effort.
Sign me,
Blown Away
Jim
LOVELY!
I was looking for a reasonably priced enameled dutch oven and I found it here! While $55 was not the best deal, it was within my price range. Amazon prices can be high at times, just put it in your "cart" and check on it every day. I watched the price come down each day for about 5 days before I jumped on it. The next day it had gone DOWN to $44. Oh well. I bring up the price because the same Lodge Dutch Ovens are sold at my local Wal-Mart for $45. The store did not have the full color range Amazon does, but they are the same thing!
Now, the reason I chose this one was the COLOR! This green is every bit as beautiful as the picture suggests. I am very satisfied with the aesthetics of it. The only drawback I can come up with is that the knob on the lid is only oven safe to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. This can be unscrewed and replaced with a cast iron knob to work in higher temps. I have cooked with this dish and it performed beautifully. I am very satisfied with this purchase and I am considering ordering other coordinating pieces.
