Nice looking $99.00 watch
This Lucien Piccard watch is not of the same quality and manufacture as the older Lucien Piccard watches. That is very apparent when you first have it in your hands.
I do not know where the MSRP of $600.00 comes from, but this is not a $600.00 watch. I have found them selling for between $99.00 to $225.00 with the MSRP being stated from $600.00 to $695.00
None of the seller stated MSRP values are correct, and only the seller on eBay was asking $225.00, while everyone else wanted around $100.00.
Its dial is set with diamonds, or diamond chips, and you can peer through the window to see its Chinese automatic movement at work.
Only one seller out of eight honestly listed what the country of origin was for this watch, which is China.
But, if you wish to pay $99.00 for a watch that most people will think is a $300 to $500 watch, then this might be the one for you.
Of course if you really want a watch of quality build, and that will tell the time correctly, you just might want to buy a Seiko. But make sure the Seiko that you buy was made in Japan, because, presently, many aren't.
My wife bought this watch as a present for me because it looked so "pretty." I've worn this watch off and on for more than seven months, and during that time I've had to pay out $20.00 each time for the two times I returned it to the factory for warranty repairs. I was not too happy about that, but did it so as to keep peace in the family.
The hands fell off after the first two days of wearing it, and the movement ground to a complete halt after three months. The next time it stops, or falls apart, it gets tossed.
The watch looks great, but the assembly of the parts is very sub-standard. I can only guess that the people who now own Lucien Piccard, which use to be a great Swiss maker of watches, manufactured some of the parts, but it was assembled in China.
You get more than what you pay for it..
I blindly paid $99.99 to buy this watch as a best deal from Amazon Gold Box (original price was $600 three weeks ago). I can see the current price is reverted back to $99.99. Where did the $600 come from?! I think I was cheated!!
The watch is beautiful, and looks genuine. But when you check it from the back, you will read "Chinese Jewels" !!
Bottom lines, $99.99 is a good price for it. Buy it if you want to wear a watch looks precious, but under a hundred bucks.
really not that good
I have own this watch now for 3 years. The watch requires time setting every day, and thats really annoying. My watch also has an internal peice that is broken and makes noises everytime i move my hand. It may not be noticeable to another person but i definatly can hear it.
For those of you thinking about buying this watch, when it's new it looks great and has a good weight to it so it makes you feel confident when you dress up and so forth. But if your buying this watch for longevity, i wouldn't reccomend it. Makes a great gift and i believe it's worth the 99 $ price tag. Nothing more.
I gave it 3 stars because i believe this watch is good for young adults but for someone who is serious about quality and precision you may want to look elsewhere
