Editorial Review
Nothing soothes a baby into slumber like music. Now baby can have a CD player right in the crib. This battery-operated CD player attaches securely to a crib rail and also has a soft-glow night-light that can be turned on or off, making it easy to check on baby during the night. This small streamlined-looking unit has a child-resistant cover to keep control buttons out of reach of curious hands. With standard CD player controls, high-clarity speakers, and an automatic shutoff, this CD player makes it possible to play your favorite CD selections in the nursery--at bedtime, naptime, or anytime. This player may also be used as a tabletop unit once baby outgrows the crib. Although this is a great product concept, many users have found that it is quite impractical, as the slightest brush against the CD player or bump in the crib causes the CD to skip. Requires two C batteries (not included). --Deb Oroszlan
From the Manufacturer
A soft lullaby soothes baby to sleep, while other musical selections provide important audio stimulation when she's awake. With our Crib CD Player, you can play your favorite music to baby anytime. No need to be limited to music box lullabies. No need to buy audio tapes of CDs you already own. Player attaches to crib rail with a child resistant cover for safety. 15-minute timer and auto-shut off features, plus a soft-glow nightlight that can be turned on or off. From birth.

Use your own judgement
I got this cd player because I had such a hard time finding lullibies on tape. I had read the other comments but thought I would give it a try anyway.
Bad points- It DOES skip when its hit, so don't hit it. The light IS dim, so what? I want the kids to sleep not see what to get into! The music IS low even on the highest setting, but then again the whole house isn't listening to it.
Good points- It plays the whole CD then shuts itself off. (At least mine does!) It uses CDs which can be found ANYWHERE. Its small enough that I can put it on the wall side of my crib and I know my other children CAN'T play with it!! The buttons are a pain to get to, but thats GREAT where kids are concerned, right??
As for the batteries, I've had mine a few weeks, play it EVERY night and have yet to replace the batteries.
I happen to really like mine. Give it a try, save your receipt and make up your own mind.
We returned it FOUR times!
Yup, FOUR times! Thank goodness Babies R Us has a great return policy! I recommend saving the box if you do indeed decide to buy this piece of junk.
There was nothing good about it in our opinion. It's a cool concept, but cheaply made. It's flimsy, it skips 9 out of 10 times, it eats batteries up within a few hours. It also has a lowsy volume control/speaker system. Yes, I know it's a babies CD player, but for $50 (which is ridiculous), shouldn't it have some stereo sound to it?
SO, thumbs down for this product. And if you must buy it or get it as a gift, save that box so you can keep returning it to Babies R Us!
Not handy
While this is a nice product, I ended up returning it for several reasons: 1) The two C-batteries were not convenient or easy to replace (need a screwdriver each time), 2)The CD changer compartment takes two hands to open and it makes a loud noise -- not good for a sleeping baby, 3) The music is not in stereo sound.
You're better off with a mini-boombox that plays both CD's and cassettes -- not only for convenience and sound quality but for the price.
