Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
Our Garden Defense Electronic Owl is the ultimate in chemical-free pest control with both movement and sound. This realistic great-horned owl has sensors that detect when garden pests are near and will turn its head in that direction and hoot, scaring the critters away. Requires three AA batteries.
Customer Reviews
No more pigeons in our warehouse
My company had a huge problem with pigeons roosting in our warehouse. We decided to buy a different owl at first, a statue that didn't move. But after 3 days, the pigeons had figured out it wasn't real.
This electronic owl's movement and hooting really did the trick. I would say it is quite loud if you wanted to use it at a house or apartments. Also, the sensors are really too sensitive. We eventually turned off the hooting because it was too annoying, and it didn't seem to make a difference to the pigeons--they still stayed out.
Neat but loud.
I have a real problem with starlings nesting above my apartment's deck. The mess they create is horrible. So I need some type of deterrent.
This little guy is real cool looking but there are a few things I do not like. The hooting is very loud and because I have apartments below me and to the side it would be an annoyance to my neighbours. Luckily there is a mute button setting, but you cannot mute the sound of the owl's head turning which is also very loud. You can hear his head turning with ease 20 feet away.
There are four movement sensors at the base of the owl. The sensors are not of the greatest quality. Sometimes it takes a lot of movement for the owl to notice.
The owl takes three AA batteries and is mounted using screws in three holes on the base. I actually strapped him down with twine so I can move him about.
I do not know if its the owl or just coincedence but I have seen and heard far less birds than before I got the owl, but I wonder if just a cheaper owl statue would have done the job.
Electronic Owl Defense
We bought this as a gift for a friend. She was having problems with a nasty little bird messing up her newly redone porch furniture. She was almost to the point of automatic weapon fire to rid herself of the bird.
She had tried numerous other options and nothing worked. Since the owl has been on the job there has been no sign of the bird.
She can't say enough about how she loves her owl.
