Customer Reviews

Sort of useless...3
I bought a pair of these to put over the metal handles on my pasta cooking pot.

They fit perfectly, look nice, but they turned out to not be as functional as I had hoped.

They seem to intend for you to slide these over the handles only when moving the pot, and then slide them back off after you set it back on the burner. That doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

If you leave them on the pot while you're cooking, they become unbearably hot, so you end up needing your oven mitts anyway. If you slide them on right before picking it up (say, to drain the pot) they stay cool for only a few minutes before they become uncomfortable to hold. If you have a higher heat threshold than I do, you may be okay with this, though it still seems inconvenient to me.

I recommend getting a good pair of silicone oven mitts with cloth on the inside (it gives it an extra thermal barrier, and feels nicer); that's what I ended up doing and I'm much happier.

Safer Cooking3
I use these on my Batali Essentials pot because the cast iron handles get very hot and I like the security of the molded silicon when lifting the heavy pan of food from the stovetop to oven and back. I also use the handles to get a good grip when stirring on the burner.

I'd prefer if the handles snapped onto the pot, but it's still a lot safer than using big flat potholders to move it around. Note: Be careful not to leave the handles on while it is in the oven though because then they will be too warm to grab with your bare hands.

If you use the pot often, it is worth the investment.
