Product Description

If you think your astrological fate is sealed by your Sun sign, think again! Your emotions, instincts, intuition, and mast private passions are dominated by your Moon sign. It throws light on such mysteries as why an Aquarian like Ronald Reagan is no radical, and why a Virgo like Raquel Welch is no virgin. Reagan's Moon is in conservative Taurus, and Welch's is in sexy Scorpio.

In this eye-opening volume, world-famous astrologer and therapist Donna Cunningham unravels the often bewildering effects of lunar influence: a person's potential for intimacy...sense of security...family ties...susceptibility to indulgence in food or drink...career ambition...as well as how men and women respond differently to the same lunar promptings in love and life.

Cunningham provides all the information you need to determine your own and others' Moon signs -- and analyze their power. Moon Signs also charts the daily, monthly, and yearly courses of the moon, which create those predictable mood swings -- our "emotional weather".

The time-honored tradition of astrology has today come into its own as a resource for human development and spiritual insight. For astrological novices and veterans alike, Cunningham's invaluable guide will pave the way to a more profound understanding of the uncharted and sometimes dark side of the soul.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
When this book was originally published, Sun Sign astrology held sway over popular astrology and MOON SIGNS offered a much needed corrective. The author's very readable, entertaining advice is still valuable for novices and veterans alike, and helps readers understand how the moon can help us understand our emotional weather, changing moods, inner life and our sometimes dark side of the soul.

Customer Reviews

Very thorough5
This is a great book on the astrological Moon and one of the most thorough ones I have read so far. The Moon in astrology dominates your emotions, instincts, intuition, your private needs and automatic emotional responses. It is therefore one of the most important aspects in the birth chart, that alters how the sun sign is felt and expressed.

In this book Cunningham first explains in detail what the moon represents astrologically and how it affects us. Then, the book is divided in 3 parts:

For the First Part, one doesn't need to know their Moon sign. Here, the author guides you through the process of following the Moon through its monthly path around the zodiac, as well as its yearly path of the New and Full Moons. By understanding and using the Moon's monthly and yearly path, (what Cunningham calls "Emotional Weather"), one can observe its daily changes and monthly cycles, and understand how it affects them.

In the Second Part, she interprets the twelve Moon signs in the birth chart, as well as the lunar phase at your birth. Long appendices and tables are included where you can find out what your Moon sign is, or what phase the Moon was at your birth. There is also a general and very helpful chapter here on how each rising sign and each house modify the birth moon, but she doesn't get in detail on specific moon-rising sign combinations, or moon-house combinations.

Finally, the Third Part deals with how men and women in each moon sign react in relationships. She also provides general guidelines on the compatibility of different moon placements, based on Jung's research. My favorite chapter here is one that talks about "lunar burnout" (which is what happens to you when you ignore your needs as expressed by the condition of your moon) and how you can best nurture yourself according to your moon sign.

Just to make it clear, this book does not cover specific sun sign - moon sign combinations, specific rising sign - moon sign combinations or interpretations for house placements for each of the moon signs. If you want something like that, I would recommend Charles Harvey's "Sun Sign-Moon Sign" for sun-moon combinations, but I haven't read any good books on ascendant-moon combinations.

And...I can't help but nag that this book is only available in mass market paperback, which means you really aren't getting a good quality publication. But the content is so good I couldn't bring myself to take out any stars over this. This really is a great book on the Moon, informative and very, very thorough. Donna Cunningham's writing style is not heavy, not boring and really fun to read.

The Moon Shines Equally on All4
Donna Cunningham has made a niche for herself in Pluto astrology (including recovery work and sexuality) and the Moon and its special effects! Well, what's not to love about the moon? "Moon Signs" really is a charming and special book. As an additional bonus, it crosses over nicely into the ritual area and can be of great value to Natural Magicians, Wiccans and others who need to be very tuned in to the moon and it cycles. The book is geared toward a general audience, though, and there are user-friendly tables and references that will help you find out what sign your own astrological Moon is in. Armed with this valuable information, you can then join the astrological "crowd" in finding out such things as emotional compatability, the meaning of the moon through the houses and things like that. The book also explores the moon's daily, and monthly path through the heavens. My favorite part of the book is the lists of affirmations appropriate for new and full moons in all 12 signs of the zodiac. I often call on thse affirmations for my own Moon Rituals, I find them so cogent and handy. The lunar approach of this book is a refreshing balance to the majority of solar texts on the astorlogical shelves in the bookstore and in my own personal library. It contributes very much just by being a "different" approach and it has a real charm to it besides. This is a good book to add to your collection.

A Must Have For Your Astrology Library5
A great book, after reading it, I reference it all the time when I need to get a better understanding of someone. The only drawback, is that you need their full birthdate. But this book is wonderful.
