It's not compatible with the New Video Ipod, newest Ipod
In the photo you are deliberatley decieved into believing it doesn't contain that chip type plug in. I'm not technical enough to explain, but I think if you've bought a recorder in the past for your older Ipod, you've realised the recorder doesnt' fit the new Ipod because of the other part that plugs in. There is only the headphone slot on the top. The photo only shows the headphone jack so it decieves you into believing this one will fit your new IPOD. I just kept it anyway, haven't used it. That's not the point, buyer beware if you're buying for the latest Ipod, this isn't for you.

Does NOT work with iPod Touch ... photo and description are MISLEADING
This does NOT work with iPod Touch or iPhone. There is a second plug sticking out of the bottom that you can't see from the product photograph. I just uploaded my own photograph of this product as a "customer image". Take a look at that before you buy this. If you have an older iPod model that fits those plugs, then this may well work for you.

I give it one star because I'm angry that the product photograph, product title, and technical information on this page are misleading, and ultimately it doesn't do what the description claims it does (work with my "iPod"). The photograph was taken at an angle that doesn't show the plugs clearly and doesn't show the second stubby little plug. The technical description also does not mention it. The item title just says "Universal Mic Adapter for IPod". You'd think that would work with a current model iPod such as an iPod Touch, unless it says otherwise. To be clear, the stubby little thing will not fit into the wider connector on the bottom of an iPod Touch.

I actually bought this at another online store. They had the same photograph and the same problems. It's not just Amazon at fault here. I blame Belkin for not providing better information to the retailers who are selling their stuff, as well as the retailers for not checking the information.

Works well for me
I bought this after researching the product to make sure it was compatable with my ipod, which it was. I paired this with an Olympus ME-15 microphone, and the quality is better than I had expected! I do a podcast from my truck, and the mic gain control is just perfect. I have experienced none of the static or hiss as described in another review. The light on the front does a great job of letting me know if my levels are too high, as well. I recommend this product highly.
