BEST carrier for small dog!!! We give it a...4 paws WAY up!
We have been using this backpack for our chihuahua for almost a year now; it is hands down THE BEST carrier for a small dog. First, even though our little guy only weight 4.5 pounds, carrying him in a shoulder bag still made my shoulder ache after just a couple of stores. With this, you can carry your friend around all day without hurting your back or shoulders. The straps are also padded, as is the back, with a little extra in the lumbar section, all just like a well-designed regular backpack.

We have also been disappointed in the past with how much space for doggie "supplies" there is in normal carriers, but this one has THREE good-sized pockets that hold everything we need and then some. I can carry a small metal bowl (or 2 foldable ones), food, treats, poo bags, harness, leash, doggie diapers, and a sweater or two with no problem.

Finally, the entire pet enclosure is made of strong mesh (don't think camping tent material, I don't know what this stuff is, but is isn't what you would normally think of as "mesh"). It is very strong; even without a recent nail trim, his scratching can't damage this fabric!

We originally got this for hiking, but liked it so much better than any of our other carriers (even the really expensive designer ones!) that we now use this for every outing. Any time we start putting our shoes on and heading for the door, Chico runs over to his backpack and climbs in. "I'm ready...let's go!"

Best money I've every spent on a dog carrier, and the price its listing at now, a bargain (I think I paid $59.95 last year)!

Great backpack for carrying small dog
We ordered this pack for our month long road trip through the northeast and up to Maine with our 9 lb. Pomapoo, Muffin.
First - great service and fast delivery
Second - the pack worked great for our Muffin. He always seemed comfortable and relaxed, never hot or cramped. The shoulder straps were very comfortable for us.
Third - The extra zippered compartments stored his foldable waterbowl, waterbottles, leash, poop bags (empty!), and my day stuff.
Fourth- Worked great on trails and enabled his entrance into stores and beaches where dogs normally are banned.
Fifth - great name - Outward Hound - and cute dog looking out from the pack created smiles and conversation
Contributed greatly in making our trip smooth and fun.
