For multi-cat homes, but can work well for one cat. Use only good quality clumping litter like Tidy Cat--for your cat's sake don't use perfumed litter. Sensors wait 10 min after the cat is done then rakes move the litter into the receptacles so the cat isn't scared of the motor noise.The cover on the receptacle holds in the odor. No mess, no odor, a good system.

Ours is by Amarkat but not this exact one. We bought from their website, & the prices were the best. Ours is 80" w/ lots of cubes, sisal scratching posts,places to jump, hide, & nap. It is the best toy ever & if I had to choose I'd NOT get any other toy or optional item & save up for the largest one of these, it's such a hit. (Ours is B7701)

This is, for my cats, the top rated most popular cat toy AFTER the cat condo above. Unlike many toys they seem to go back to this one at least once daily. They can play w/ it alone, with each other or w/ a human. When they both play they look like little people at a roulette wheel. The ball is in a groove that stops it from coming out & getting lost.

#4 favorite toy. Cats chase each other thru it; jump on one another when one is in it etc. Cats love hiding in anything--one of the ways they get lost & hurt---but for play nothing is better than something to hide in. IMPORTANT--a cat has collapsible collar bones, so can get thru anything the size of it's head, SO: when you're looking for him & say "he couldn't possibly be in THERE!"—he could!

We don’t own “Da Bird” but most feathered toys seem to be popular w/ cats…tho’ toymakers keep on making mice!! A great toy we had, now lost, was feathered, & made a bird chirping noise when thrown & would be on the top 5 favorites list if I could find it. The #6 top favorite toy of my cats is a REAL peacock feather,sold at some vets or some farmers markets.

The material is scratchy & rough to us humans but most cats seem to love it. One of the favorite sleeping surfaces, more so than some softer spots. I have one cut up to fit the cubicles in the cat condo, & the cat carrier. Non-washable, have to eventually replace when dirty.

Herriot was an English vet in isolated farmland in the 1930’s, caring for farm animals & pets. He wrote his memoirs in his classic books: "All Creatures Great & Small", "All Things Bright & Beautiful", "All Things Wise & Wonderful", "The Lord God Made Them All". The Cat stories, all true, are from these books. Worth reading. Reading the whole set ---highly recommended.

C.Wilbourn: "founding mother of cat psychology" has worked w/vets for 20 yrs & written several books. I found it sad that a customer review on Amazon questioned her knowledge because Wilbourn said some cats could have milk. SOME cats tolerate milk-it doesn't mean Wilbourn is ignorant, just that cats are different. A good book on cat behavior & psychology by an expert on cats.

Another cat study by Roger Caras. A gentle look at how cats live among themselves when humans sort of get out of their way. On his large property for rescued animals, the cats could live their own lives, not be managed & controlled by humans, & he just observed their lives—a cat companion more than an owner.

Very funny memoirs of a vet who made house calls on cats in NY City for 60 years. Also great view of NYC back then. Funniest book here.

Recycles the same water you put in so it's not wasted. Cats prefer flowing water which is the main idea here--- the more clean fresh water cats (especially neutered males) drink, the better, as they easily get cystitis ( a kidney disease) & if chronic can become life threatening. ( A cat passing blood in his/her urine or showing pain when urinating needs to go to the vet immediately.)

For families where someone has mild cat allergies, instead of using the anti-allergy sprays & wipes on the cat, try teaching the cat when young to be bathed. This cuts down on dander---the source of allergens--more than anything else. Use luke warm water, dry well w/ a blow dryer on low held about a foot from the cat, & use lots of towels, don't let cat get chilled. (Any good cat shampoo ok.)

Simple remedy for ear mites, which appear as thick,black,crumbly type ear wax. Keep ears clean gently w/ cotton balls, don't (as with your kids) stick q-tips down where you can't see.

This has both toothpaste (cats can't use human toothpaste) and a soft finger brush for the human to use on the cat's teeth. Have your Vet show you, its not worth traumatizing you & cat.

As the title says, another book w/ sentimental multi-tissue stories about cats & their people.

A very well put together book with photographs of all the various breeds of cats. Beautifully done. Nice to have if someone is deciding on a breed type, though more research into personality and genetic diseases would also have to be done before you choose, looks are the LEAST important part of it.

Conflicts occur when a new cat comes to a home. My suggestions: no more than 1-2 cats per litterbox.(Only 1 per box unless you have an extra lg litterbox, like the new automatic Littermaid --above--even that should be for only 2 cats) & an average of 1 cat per room in a house. Hard as it is not to keep rescuing cats sometimes its best for all to donate to a reputable shelter or rescue group.

Max, my last cat before the two kittens I have now, was 21 yrs old when he died, or 89 yrs old in equivalent human years. He was on several meds for health issues. But his quality of life was good, up to the last 3 days when he clearly said, "I'm done, let me go." It is something that is part of pet ownership/stewardship, to know when it is time to let them go: Google "The Rainbow Bridge".
