Amazon.com Product Description
Don’t worry anymore about replacing the 9-volt batteries in your ScatMat Pet Training Mats. Use this ScatMat Power Adapter is an approved alternative. It’s especially great for high-traffic areas where batteries would run down quickly. Uses AC power to provide harmless 3-second static pulses on large and medium ScatMats and ScatMat Strip for mantels and window sills. Works with all ScatMat products with an existing power pack. Includes 12-foot power cord. Does not work with ScatMat extension mats, which connect instead to an existing ScatMat mat or power pack.
Customer Reviews
Scat Mat is terrific, especially with A/C power
The scat mat is amazing. It keeps our dogs off of the leather furniture and is easy to use. It's not painful for them (I've tried it) and provides just the right amount of static to startle them. With the A/C adapter, no batteries required.
pointless purchace
the scat mat works perfectly well with batteries we got the power adapter so that we wouldn't have to spend money on and change batteries but when we use the adapter and plug it in the scat mat continually goes off even when not being touched by anything
It Works
I bought a pet training mat to replace one that was accidentally thrown away. The bottom line is that it works and I recommend it.
More info: I placed the mat across an archway between the dining room and living room to keep our fox terrier out of the living room. I originally used a 9v battery. Be aware that the shock may not occur every time the mat is touched because contact must be maintained long enough to build up a static charge. It can take 2-3 seconds. But that's okay, because the dog will eventually get shocked and will learn very quickly to avoid the mat. There were occasions when she would get so excited when someone came to the front door that she would run over the mat (without getting shocked) but then realize where she was and refuse to cross the mat to return. The battery eventually died, but the dog did not test it for months. After she realized that it no longer posed a threat, she was comfortable crossing it, albeit at a quick trot.
When I bought the replacement mat, I also got the AC adapter and the extension mat. I'm not sure exactly how the charging/shock sequence works with the extension mat, but I figured it would make it even less likely that she could trot over both mats. After one shock, she realized that the power was back and has not crossed it since. And I have it set on the lowest of the three power settings. It works.
