Editorial Reviews

The tender musical heart of this enchanted take on The Man Who Fell to Earth belongs to composer Edward Shearmur, who turns in a largely synthesized score where spare, delicate piano melodies often recall Thomas Newman's deft sense of space and dynamics. While the general musical ethos seems a throwback to the mid-'80s heyday of pioneering electronic scores by Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, contemporary technical advances have allowed Shearmur to impart an ethereal and distinctly organic aural patina to these cues. Though informed by his atmospheric session work with Pink Floyd (The Division Bell), Shearmur's K-PAX score stands apart: quiet, mystically introspective music that seems as uncomplicated--and yet innately profound--as an autumn breeze. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Reviews

Oh my gosh! This cd was awesome!!5
I saw this movie by accident and ended up loving every second of it, especially the musical score created by Edward Shearmur.

If you like entrancing melodies mixed with stylish beats that radiate the same vibe as many modern day car commercials, this cd is for you! I loved it and listened to the darn thing non stop for three days after purchasing it. I had to force myself to stop listening, a ritual I perform in order to not get sick of a good thing, and in this case, a great thing.

Grand Central, the opening track, is great. Taxi Ride is an eniticing track while Good Morning Bess creates a blissful feeling. Powell's Return and Coda are delightful and will give you a feeling of pure satisfaction, as if you've just accomplished something meaningful.

Please buy this cd(or download it). I can't stand it that people aren't exposed to this kind of mesmerizing beauty each day!!

Preaching to the Choir5
Well, if I were to say any more about how wonderful the music on this cd is, I'd just be preaching to the choir. :) So I'll just make a couple comments.

1-See the movie before buying the soundtrack. It's really fun to have the scenes associated with the music (especially if you're listening to Grand Central in a car!)

2-The cd's only fault was that it doesn't have the song played during the credits. :( I liked that song, and I have no clue the title or singer. Can anybody here help?

The music is a bit light and airy than most instrumentals I listen to, a lot like sugar, but not a fault at all. :) I have a sweet tooth.

Stellar Music5
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this CD until now. I saw the movie several months after it came out while living in Finland. I had to wait several more months until I came back to the United States before being able to order it. It was a long and painful wait.

Before this soundtrack, I had never heard of Edward Shearmur. I will not soon forget. This music is incredible. He did an amazing job of capturing the intriguing character of Prot and the mystery of the story. The music is quite moving and very innovative. He uses a lot of different sounds and produces many different feelings, and sometimes if you close youre eyes you even feel like you're moving.

Oh, words just do not do it justice.

Go! Now! Buy it. You'll love it.
