You can make your own baskets, but in the end you probably won't come close to this one. It's deep enough to prevent wind from blowing your line around. It's strong enough it doesn't easily deform or bend. The curved belly portion adds comfort and acts as a nice cradle for you neck and head when using it as a pillow on the beach. It includes no drainage holes, which is a plus. Most beginners read you need holes but soon find that water enters the holes while deep wading. This usually renders the baskets useless. You can always drill holes if desired. Excellent on large streams, boats and beach fishing.
