![]() | Where The Water Rises
Buy new: $7.99 This is an excellent new debut from a band from South Dakota. While just a two piece when playing live, through the magic of recording, they have put together what sounds like a full band rocking out on 16 original songs. Check out: "Girl", "I Saw an Angel", "Deceitful Tongue", "Ain't That Something" and "Lancaster Road". The whole album is a steal at 7.99!

![]() | Black Clouds & Silver Linings (3 CD Special Edition) by Dream Theater
Buy new: $22.99 / Used from: $13.99 This is a mindblowing epic from the Grandfathers of Progressive Metal, Dream Theater. 3 CDs feature the entire original album, with 5 epic tracks and one shorter track. The second CD is a collection of 6 covers. The third CD is an instrumental run through of the original 6 songs. At less than $20 for the whole collection, you can't go wrong!

![]() | Brain Cycles by Radio Moscow
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $23.95 This is a minimalist masterpiece! The sophomore effort from Radio Moscow calls to mind the guitar mastery of Jimi Hendrix, with some funky, soulful songwriting. Radio Moscow's self-titled debut is also worth a listen. I expect big things from this band from Iowa in years to come!

![]() | Lipstick on the Mirror by Pop Evil
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $6.75 If you are into modern alternative rock, you will enjoy this debut release from Pop Evil. My favorite track is "Another Romeo and Juliet", which starts with some sick lead guitar, and turns into a slowburn groovin' rocker. Getting some radio with "100 in a 55", and the opener, "Hero", is a great way to get things started.

![]() | Tab 4 by The Atomic Bitchwax
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $6.24 While I enjoy the stoner rock genre, the fourth release by The Atomic Bitchwax should appeal to just about anyone who likes some good ol' 70's style hard rock. Check out "Don't Do It" and "Daisy Chain" for a taste of just how catchy this album is. There are also a couple of HARD slammin' instrumentals, my favorite of which is "Super Computer".

![]() | Let's Rock-N-Roll by Charm City Devils
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $5.37 These guys sound straight out of the 80's, but in a GOOD way! I had been looking forward to this release for awhile, and when it finally came out, I was NOT disappointed! If you like your music straightup and hard, but still need a little groove, you will love Charm City Devils!

![]() | Whatever Gets You Off by The Last Vegas
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $6.98 Wow! Talk about a hard working band! These guys have put out a few great releases over the last couple years, but their newest, "Whatever Gets You Off", is their masterpiece! "I'm Bad", "Loose Lips", and "Cherry Red" are awesome rockin' tunes, calling to mind Silvertide's debut album. "Apologize" is an excellent ballad, reminiscent of Buckcherry when they slow things down a bit.

![]() | Burn Halo by Burn Halo
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $7.84 My son and I were both fans of the short lived 18 Visions (their final self-titled album is worth picking up too!), and Burn Halo is the new band featuring the singer of 18V. This is another album I had been looking forward to for a while, and another album I was very happy with! Excellent alternative rock!

![]() | Strip Rock Roll by Asphalt Valentine
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $7.48 For some reason, this album's release was delayed by close to a year. I had first heard of Asphalt Valentine in late 2007, and waited through the original 2008 release date (in the US), and finally picked the album up in Summer of 2009. It was worth the wait! While this album isn't as sleazy as "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns n Roses, it definitely has a similar attitude.

![]() | The Stone Foxes by The Stone Foxes
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $7.71 This is some smokin' trippy retro rock with a strong blues flavor. This is one of my favorite discoveries of the last years. Sounds kind of like Wolfmother, and "Sweep a Road" is reminiscent of the Animals' version of "House of the Rising Sun". Their cover of "Spoonful" is THE DEFINITIVE version of this standard!
