this is a fantastic little reference guide for all parents who wish to provide wholesome reading resources for their children ages 3-30!! the book breaks into different historical eras, and lists suitable and highly recommended fiction and non-fiction titles for various age groups within each era. Most titles are available at the public library. the booklet also has a system of symbols which denote "christian" titles, easy to find titles, etc. etc. Especially good for homeschool families. I have relied upon this booklet many times to find just the right book to correspond with what we are studying at home. I originally received the book from a homeschooling friend, who purchased it from Elijah Company for $3.50. Too bad it's so hard to find. get a copy, if you can!
The BEST history resource for the elementary years!
I used this very helpful resource with my youngest son for history. The recommended reading listed in the booklet is nothing but high quality, "twaddle" free, stimulating literature. These books are engaging, very enjoyable, and are great for reading-a-loud. They are also historically accurate and free from the unfortunate revisionist trend now sweeping through the realm of public education.
Great US history reading list for Christian's & non-revisionists
Carole Joy Seid recommends this book (it was based upon her teaching philosophy) for teaching American History - most books have a Christian viewpoint or they are historically accurate vs the post-1960 revisionist history found in books published after 1960.
