From the Manufacturer
New 18V 4-Piece Combo Kit Model EYC156GQW: Hammer drill/Driver, Metal Cutting Circular Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Flashlight. The EY6950 18V-volt ½ chuck Hammer drill/driver delivers 425 in.lbs of torque to easily handle drilling large holes and driving lag bolts. Featuring speeds of 0 and#65533; 450 / 0-1,550 rpm and a max of 28,000 bpm the EY6950 is great for high speed masonry drilling. The EY3552 metal cutting circular saw has a 6-½ 40 tooth carbide tipped blade for cutting metal such as conduit, threaded rod, strut and metal siding. The blade is shrouded for chip containment with a clear plastic window for visibility. Electric brake and spindle lock offer safety and convenience. The EY3544GQK 18-volt reciprocating saw has improved motor/gear technology for long lasting performance and powerful cutting. With 0-2,700 spm and a 7/8 stroke length you get fast, accurate cutting. Just a quarter turn disengages and locks the new blade into place. The blade system allows for blade reversal too so you can achieve upside down cutting when space is tight. The adjustable pivoting shoe provides visibility and stability for all your cutting needs. The 3.5Ah battery delivers long run time and will allow you to cut 35 pieces of 2x10 pine on just one charge. The EY3796B 18-volt flashlight offers an adjustable head angle, low battery indication and shoulder strap. The EYC156GQW kit includes: hammer drill/driver, metal cutting circular saw w/blade, reciprocating saw, flashlight, two 3.5AH Ni-MH batteries, universal charger, and molded case.

Customer Reviews

QUALITY AND CAPACITY5
I am an electrician who uses his tools everyday. I have used nothing but Panasonic cordless tools for over 10 years now. When I first used this metal cutting kit, I was impressed. Threaded rod, unistrut, EMT conduit, and metal studs all cut cleanly and easily. Barely any de-burring is necessary. The battery capacity is amazing. With hard, everyday use, I need to charge only a couple times a WEEK! All the other brands would have you charging a couple times a day. You can feel the quality in the smooth drivetrains and balanced feel. The hammerdrill is also amazing. Driving 3/8" bits into concrete with the ease of many corded models makes this tool invaluable. All in all this combo kit is an excellent product and I recomend it to everyone. If you have never tried Panasonic cordless tools before, try them, and you'll be impressed.

Awesome tools, even the light!5
Update January 2009:
This is still working very well and I have gone through several projects, including completely finishing my 800+ square foot basement, completely rebuilding my detached (20x40) garage, installing a pull down attic staircase, and now starting to remodel my kitchen. This thing is great. The only thing that I don't love (but still like) is the circular saw just doesn't quite have the cutting capacity I would have hoped for if the battery is not completely charged (but then, that is to be expected). This is a great set, and battery life for drill and flashlight as exceptional.

I bought this to replace my Ryobi set when the batteries started to catch fire while charging. The only thing I can say against this set is that it is much heavier than the Ryobi. HOWEVER, that is not really a bad thing. They all have a great feel, very solid. The drill is great, the torque is more than I really need. We just bought a house and I have been doing several different projects, everything from hanging up curtains for my wife, to fixing our detatched gargae, and I am very happy. I have not done any heavy construction, nor done I plan to. The batteries hold a charge for much longer than the Ryobi. Of course, this set costs much more than the Ryobi, but I think it is well worth it. I highly recommend it....I almost forgot, you can't imagine how useful the flashlight actually is. Of course, I would rather have gotten another tool, but, I am not disappointed with it.

UPDATE 8/12/07:
I have to say that I don't think I have ever been more pleased and satisfied with a tool purchase. These tools just keep going. They hold their charge for a long time. They are very well built, and I have used them for a variety of projects in my new house....from putting up curtains for my wife, to putting up a new ceiling in my basement, and many things in between. I am not a "pro," however, they have handled everything I threw at them without a problem. I have done work in my attic, including putting in a pulldown staircase, I have drilled into masonry, etc., well, listen, now I am starting to sound like a salesman. I don't work for Panasonic, but I am a fan. For comparison, the Ryobi set up I had, was terrible. The Ryobi battery's had to be charged often, and if not used for a while would have to be recharged before using. Then, after a few months, I was charging one of the batteries, and after less than 45 minutes it caught on fire! That was the end of the Ryobi. I have used the Panasonic ever since without looking back. I wish I could give this extra stars.

I have tried all the rest now I have the best. 5
I was told about these tools by the repair center that was repairing my Ridgid drill for the second time and my Ridgid recip saw for the first time.

I said Panasonic makes tools? Indeed they do.

I decided to try them and I am very pleased with them. I have had the DeWalt 18volt series and they are great, but, the batteries are a constant battle to keep one with a charge. I was constantly using the charger.

I tried Ridgid with the lifetime guarantee and all. Its a good thing they have the guarantee because you are going to need it. I sent my drill in and the service became a battle between the authorized service center and the Ridgid company. After 5 months of waiting and numerous phone calls, I received a new drill. Only thing was it had only one speed. Oh well, I wasn't using the tools anymore anyway. Then about 3 weeks later another drill was sent to me with the variable speed but the chuck was very weak. LOL Yes it became a joke with my brother and myself.

In the meantime I purchased and was using the Panasonic set. I was very pleased with the very long run time I had. Where I was charging batteries several times a day with Ridgid and De Walt, I am now charging maybe several times a week. The tools are strong and very well built.

Recently, the battery charger quit. This is after a little over a year. I looked for a fuse to check, but, found no way to open the unit. I called the customer service and they said that the unit was unservicable, that there was no fuse and that I would have to buy a new one at $120.00. I was not happy. I then went down to the work area in my basement and started to find a way to open the unit. It turns out that I had no tools to open it with. Not allen, torx, phillips or slot. I tried every thing I could. NO LUCK. I used a magnifying glass to see what it was and it looked like torx.

That is when I took the whole unit and smashed the thing on the ground. Nothing happened. HUH! Smashed it again and again and again, and a small crack started. Finally after some serious smashing,LOL, I got the thing open to the point that I could see that there was a fuse and indeed it had blown. So much for customer service. Upon inspection, I was very impressed with the extremely well built unit. Inside there was liberal use of some kind of silicone or epoxy to hold parts in place. The circuit board was of very high quality as were the componets. I was so impressed that I decided to keep the set and purchase a new charger.

I was ready to get the new Makita LiIon or the De Walt 26 volt set. Not anymore. I will stick with this set until ??????

Also, as it turned out, the 4 small screws are some kind of a torx security screw. It is a torx pattern with a tiny post in the middle of the star pattern. You would need a torx with a hole in the middle to fit the screw head pattern. In the future, I will use my Dremel and cut the screws off and use my own.

Again, great tools and they live up to everyday use in all kinds of cutting, drilling, sawing(metal or wood). Long battery life and strong.
Case a little bulky, but, no big deal, better than a bag that is always open and getting crap inside or wet.

I find it strange that you never hear of these great tools in the trades or in the box stores. Even in the specialty stores they are very rare.

The only other thing besides the bulky case is the fact that you have to buy the proprietary circular blades. I am thinking that I will have the arbor spacer machined to take the common blades in the future.

That's it. Hope this helps.
