I also goes into detail about Dutch grammar and irregular verbs. This is absolutely an essential book to have if you are serious about learning Dutch.

Buy new: $6.95 / Used from: $1.60 Great for beginners in Dutch. Write by Howard R stern the smae man who wrote the 201 Dutch Verbs. He knows what he is talking about and makes it excessiable to the Dutch beginner. There is a lot of grammar language but he defines each one in the back in case, if you are like me, you forgot sophomore year grammar. Great intro to grammar.

Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $4.10 This just came out this September(2007) it is the best phrase book I have found out there. It has phrase from doing basic tourist and business activities to sex. It also has a very helpful food section and a dictionary in the back. Get this praticularly if you only have a short time to learn Dutch.

Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $3.80 Great Dutch film. It goes back and forth with German but still good. Thus far this is my favorite Dutch movie was directed by the director of Basic Instinct. Interesting World War two story and good for practicing listening to Dutch.

It has a wid variety of Dutch celebs, if you are moving to the Netherlands it is worth watching just to become acquainted with some of the actors and actresses.

Buy new: $439.00 / Used from: $578.35 I used this program before moving to the Netherlands and found it to be a good primer for my move.
You can't beat taking a class with a real live teacher. However, Rosetta stone is the best alternative til you get a teacher. This does work up your vocabulary the way a child does. Boy, Girl, cat, dog... I recomend using a phrase book as a companion to learn useful phrases
