Absolutely fantastic...5
We played this game several times over the holidays with different groups of people.

Everyone who played it had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it.

The game is recommended for ages eight and up and for two or more players.

We typically had two to five players per team but even a one vs one game was fun.

We played this game on a DVD player hooked up to our TV.

One word of warning... the game flow is slightly different than the actual game show.
Most people who buy this game probably consider themselves experts on the rules so it's a little disappointing (at first) when it's not played quite like you're expecting. But once you play a quick game you'll have the rules mastered and you'll be having loads of fun.

Basically the game play is simplified by having the first team huddle together to come up with their list of the top five answers in any order for the given question. Then as the answers are revealed one by one, if one of the answers are not on the teams top five list then the other team has a chance to steal by having matched any one of the remaining answers.

This is the only Family Feud game we've played so I'm not sure how it compares to the other versions.

If you are willing to spend a couple of minutes to understand the slight variation in the game flow, I think you and your friends will have hours of fun and enjoyment.

REMARKABLY BAD!1

Who can forget the way Family Feud was played on the classic television game show? Multiple answer surveys--some with seven, eight, nine or more answers. Some with as few as three. Choosing your best guess and finding if and where it showed up on the list. Three strikes to get it right and then a chance for the opposing team to steal. And then there's fast money, two from the winning side teaming up to get even more prize money. We all grew up with it and know how to play it, almost without trying.

Except when it comes to the DVD version of the game. This version of Family Feud is so remarkably bad, so unlike its namesake, that it's difficult to describe! First off, every round only has five answers in each survey and, should you guess wrong, even on your first try, you've got two more chances, right? Wrong!! In this game one false move ends your turn and turns the chance to steal over to your opponents. And if they happen to guess a right response that was lower on your list, they steal! Really, really crappy stuff! And don't even get me started on the fast money round! Let's just say that the only resemblance of this round in the DVD game to the TV classic is its name.

When my family began to play this game the first question left us scrambling for the instructions to see what we had done wrong. Surely there had to be an explanation. Surely we had pushed the wrong button. But we hadn't. We just sat there and stared at each other and debated whether we wanted to finish the game.

I suppose that the makers of the DVD Family Feud game would rationalize that they did the best they could with the technological limitations that they felt they had. Maybe they just thought we consumers would buy it up regardless of how close it came to the original. So be it. But that doesn't mean that we need to buy it just because they lacked the imagination and initiative to pull it off. If given the chance, pass on this one!

Good fun4
Bought the second edition awhile back. This one is more fun because of the addition of John O'Hurley. It's one of the better DVD games that I've played because of the seamless interactivity. Some DVD games don't use the DVD enough (Trivial Pursuit DVD editions), others rely on it too much (the Shout! games). This one does it just right.
