Amazon Replacement Power Adapter
I had the first power adapter that came with my Kindle but I wanted a seond one because I wanted my first one to be left at home permanently plugged into the wall outlet. I never had any problems with the adapter; it worked very well. I just wanted the 2nd one to travel with as I am often absent from my home. Both have worked very well.
Get an extra one... it is worth it!
At first I thought it was stupid to buy a second adaptor exactly like the first... but because I was taking my Kindle to work so I could read during lunch and on breaks (after forgetting to plug in my Kindle when going to sleep), I bought one to keep at work.
I love having an extra now! Took one on vacation... got home late and didn't have to dig through my suitcase to find that backup Kindle charger so I could read myself to sleep. Instead, just plugged the Kindle in to the charger I had left by my bed.
Now if Amazon would only come up with a car charger, I'd be set!
Word of Warning
This product works fine. Unlike some rechargers I have dealt with, the connection is solid and doesn't become loose with time. My only warning is that be careful that you do not accidentally step on the cord (which is a pretty good length) when you pick up the Kindle. Twice, I have done this and pulled the little wire out of the connection, forcing me to buy two replacements (so far).
