From the Back Cover
This completely revised and expanded edition of Hiking Florida features more than 50 new hikes among the 2,500 miles of trails that crisscross Florida from the Panhandle to the Keys. Variety abounds with trails through quiet pine forests, along uncrowded beaches, on boardwalks above exotic swamps and the Everglades, and through historic towns and cities. Each hike varies in length and difficulty, from short, easy strolls along paved walkways to extended treks through a landscape little changed by time. Award-winning travel and outdoor writer M. Timothy O'Keefe leads the way, with informative descriptions, accurate directions and maps, and hints on safe and enjoyable hiking in this distinctive environment. Also included are tips on hiking with children and trail ethics and courtesy. Whether you find yourself on the worn tracks of well-known parks and recreation area, or tracing trails through the tucked-away corners of Old Florida, the up-to-date information and expert guidance provide a welcome and essential companion to all your hiking adventures in the Sunshine Sate.
Customer Reviews
Pretty limited. Hard to follow.
This is not a good hiking book. The desriptions are hard to follow. A hiking area is highlighted with a general description followed by specific hikes. Some had maps, others did not. This format was hard to follow, and it was hard to find trailheads based on the description.
The best part about this book is that it gives you ideas about where to hike. Beyond that I would rely on another resource to make the actual hike.
