Average customer review:Product Description
Journey to the bottom of the earth in a feature-length look at the history of man's presence on Antarctica. 18th-century explorers unsuccessfully attempted to reach the South Pole, but it wasn't until 1911 that men penetrated the interior. Though the race to be the first to the Pole claimed the lives of Robert F. Scott and his British team, it inspired intense interest in the remote, frozen continent. As the century progressed, so did a steady stream of exploration, exploitation, and experimentation.

Very good Antarctica special
Not only because of the description of this lonely and frozen land, but also for the story of the people who went to discover it for the very first time. It's a story of leadership and teams working against cold, wind, desert and against them too, to be the first.
