In the beautiful book Lucinda Ganderton explores the many ways in which you can use antique fabrics, collectibles, and flea-market finds to decorate every part of your home, from bedrooms to outdoor spaces. Contemporary vintage is an eclectic style that's easy to live with - and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. It means taking the best from past eras and mixing it with the finest of the new in a way that suits your own personality. This book is a treasure trove for collectors, designers, and anyone who loves the patina of old bric-a-brac, quirky kitchenalia, antique furnishings, and the unique quality of repeatedly laundered linen. It guides you through each living space, highlighting the design details and key elements that create the vintage look, and suggesting ways in which you can adapt them for your own home. Spread through the book are 12 step-by-step projects created by leading textile and interior designers. They include a simple but glamorous pillow studded with diamante jewels for a bedroom, an exquistely detailed Dorothy bag for the bathroom, and a stylish letter rack for the study. All of them use readily available materials and can be made by anyone with a basic knowledge of craft techniques and needlework. Whether you live in an elegant townhouse, a country cottage, or a loft apartment, you will find a wealth of ideas to inspire you in this lavishly illustrated book. Includes 12 projects with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions.

Customer Reviews
Great Book!
This is a well-written book with well-explained, lovely projects. I especially loved the vintage fabric sections. There are sections for living rooms, kitchens & dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, children's rooms, workrooms and outdoors. There are templates and sources given. The book makes you feel good about having your own style and tastes. Although it contains "stylish" ideas, they are not just for the rich and crafty people. It gives you an idea about how to select and place items with an "eye" for taste.
Very nice book!
A lovely book but not all of the ideas are unique
This is a lovely book with great ideas and beautiful photographs. I did however find it very similar to her other book and some of the ideas are duplicated in this one so if you already have Vintage Fabric Style then you might want to buy something different.
Not entirely original content
The book is nicely presented and has some great ideas on mixing and matching various vintage objects as well as a few how-to projects (the ethereal throw and retro kitchen apron are nice projects). My only gripe is that there are quite a few images that already appear in the book "flea market style" which preceded the publication of this book by one year. I'm sure that the author has the copyright issues sorted out it's just that it's disappointing to see exactly the same images in two books on the same subject.
