Customer Reviews
Hold on to your seats Business World !
The Business Game will never be the same ! . . . I was pleasantly surprised by receiving this book earlier than the date that Amazon had it scheduled to drop . . .
A trusted friend and coach had given me Robert's first book, "Busting Loose from the Money Game" . . . He/I had no idea the portal it would open . . . Life changing . . . hence Game changing . . .
In "Busting Loose from the Business Game" Robert Scheinfled truly does share mind-blowing strategies for recreating your team, your business . . . your entire Human Game . . . yep, you read it right . . . be prepared . . . The Business Game is simply the game you'll use to enter the transformational model of "Busting Loose" . . . identifying the big "lies" we have running in the Business Game and ultimately the Truth - with a capital "T" - a perspective from which you will engage every aspect of your life . . .
Little did I realize that my certification as a traditional business coach, reading P&L's, balance sheets, building cash-flow projections and becoming "financially literate" would be in preparation of adopting an entirely new model from which to play the great game of business! Today I find myself witnessing amazing occurrences in my own Business Game demonstrated through three companies, complete with amazing teams, serving the public everyday. I find myself consistently appreciating the "players" I've created in support of my growth and expansion, not to mention the power I reclaim on a daily basis !
"Appearing" at a time when the business world, as we've created it, cries out for a new direction - a new model from which to operate, "Busting Loose from the Business Game" will challenge and confront you . . . excite and encourage you . . . and/or simply leave you wondering "what the hell just happened here" . . .
Compelling and Relevant Work
As a current corporate director of human resources, I am on a continual quest for books on management. That is, "good" books on management with an emphasis on the people side of business - that is, books such as Sylvia Lafair's work in Don't Bring It to Work: Breaking the Family Patterns That Limit Success. With Busting Loose From the Business Game, I have found a book that is both fun to read and full of practical advice.
From the onset in the first chapter whereby the author describes our day-to-day roles as being on a greyhound track, I really related to the subject matter. While I was initially skeptical of the book cover's statement about how we can't "win the game" I was pleased to see this statement expanded by the author's explanation that even when we do win we pay too high a price due to the unhappiness, stress, etc. that has accumulated over the years of striving for our goals. I do struggle with the price that people often pay for the top rung as I addressed this in my people management book, Wingtips with Spurs.
While I wouldn't go as far as calling the fixes recommended as being `radical', I do believe we (most of us anyway - and me for sure) could benefit greatly from the advice in the book. Indeed, I would submit that a person could only apply those segments that they feel comfortable with, study the results and then return to the book for more.
I really appreciate the author's work in this field. Far too many of the recent management books bear a negative tone. This book is different and highly recommended.
I hope you find this review helpful.
