Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
As Fullmetal Alchemist builds to its climax, director Seiji Mizushima and screenwriter Shou Aikawa ratchet up the emotional intensity. Ed and Al learn two terrible lessons. The first is that any deed, however well-intended, can have dire consequences--including Ed's efforts to free the people of Liore from a false prophet in the first episodes of the series. The second lesson reinforces the truth of the cliché "Be careful what you wish for, because you may get it." Using the arcane knowledge of the Ishbalans and the lives of hundreds soldiers, Scar succeeds in creating a Philosopher's Stone--in a most unlikely place. But the Elric Brothers have no time to explore the magical Stone's vast powers: The Homunculi and the Military are circling them like vultures. Complicating matters further is the reappearance of the Hohenheim, the long-lost father of Edward and Alphonse. Hardcore otaku will notice manga artist Hiromu Arakawa's cow self-caricature amid the stars floating around a dazed Winrey. (Rated TV PG: violence, grotesque imagery, tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

Becoming The Stone And Catching Those Hidden Secrets 5
All through the beginning of this series I can understand low ratings or reviews and I'm talking about around 4 stars. To me only a few of the episodes in Fullmetal Alchemist didn't live up to the other episodes, somewhere in mid series but that's it, and they weren't bad they just weren't as good as the others. When I tell you that the episodes towards the end are genius I'm not playin around. The episodes that end Fullmetal are absolutley sure to make this show a complete classic work of art if the beginning and middle already didn't. It's captivating, breathtaking, and will at all cost do anything to make these upcoming DVD releases exciting and unpredictable for it's fans.

In 11 there is meetings for everyone, Kimbley and Scar meet up in Lior, Ed is suppose to meet up with Al in Lior also. Just because you have plans to do one thing doesn't mean they won't change. The brothers are unexpectedly confronted by a couple of deadly sins named Wrath and Sloth who clames she is Juliet Douglas but her vague memory tells her different and her sharp looks remind the Elric brothers of someone close and I mean very close to them. Not only do the brothers have to meet up with one piece of their past they're confronted by another and both pieces seems as equally huge. If your wondering about the front cover and why Al looks like that you'll find out how he got those cool tattoos all over his body, he went to Scar's parlor to get them done. The Elric's bros. Find everything they were looking for and more in this volume but is it a beautiful find or a terribly ugly one.

DVD contains, episodes 41-44: 41- Holy Mother, 42- His Name is Unknown, 43-The Stray Dog, 44- Hohenheim of Light.
DVD Features:
Production Art, Image Gallery, Character Profiles, Textless Songs.

Take it from a true Fullmetal Fan...(NO SPOILERS)5
...that this is one of, if not the, best volume yet. Take it from me; I've seen the entire series (and will see the movie when I buy it on DVD September 12) that if there were ever any volumes in the FMA series that are must-haves, it would be Volumes 11 - 13.

If you think that, "Oh, you're just a child. This is probably a little cartoon for kids..." YOU ARE WRONG. I am barely allowed to watch this show even though it is my favorite at the time. The rating for all of these episodes is TV-14 and should not be watched by the faint of heart. I would say that from the last episode in Volume 10 - the LAST EPISODE (Volume thirteen, third episode) it is rated for blood, violence, language, use of alchohol and tobacco, and maybe even suggestive themes.

I don't say that it's not only a kid show just because it has all of that stuff in it, I'm saying that because my PARENTS even like this show. In fact, my dad is anxiously waiting for the movie to come out! (see what I'm saying?) This show is for everyone who can stand watching it, or if they can but they're even allowed to...

I can't stand how good this show is...5
All of the Fullmetal Alchemist volumes are good, but this is where it really gets... awesome. And I don't mean that as in the slang term, but that these episodes, from this point to the end, truly and honestly fill me with awe.

In this volume is episode 42, and I've watched it, I don't know, dozens of times since it aired on adult swim. And still every time I watch it, I get cold chills all over. The effect is so powerful, it just doesn't fade.

I've read a lot of books, watched a lot of TV and movies, and I have never come across anything as original as the story of Fullmetal Alchemist (anime and manga).

But perhaps it is not as original as I think. If you can prove me wrong, please do so. Because if whatever it is, is even half as grand as this, then I'll be interested.
