Peacemaker Vol. 6
At last, on the second to last disc in the series, Peacemaker is able to achieve a level of excellence.

The conclusion to the cliffhanger at the end of volume 5 is not a happy one. We finally see Susumu open up slightly and learn how he came to be what he is. The music is well placed but once again, the rain is a distracting eye-sore. The plot is a bit slow, but is enjoyable. This episode is much more emotional than previous ones, too.

The second episode on the disc is good, but it drowns itself in digital effects and over-dramatic sequences. Masuya is finally brought to justice, but Yoshida manages to elude the Shinsengumi for a bit longer. Here we see Suzu in a new light as well. He must decide whether to obey his sensei's orders, or spare his friend. Fires are lit, memories relived, and all hell breaks loose.

The final episode on the disc (there are only three in total) is the reason volume six is titled "Prelude to the Battle". Plans are revealed and others are made. There's no action in this episode, it serves to set the mood for the next one. Here, at last, Tetsu is given a sword by Hijikata. All that remains is his decision on whether or not to use it. Yamanami's reveals some of his past and Susumu and Tatsunosuke show their emotions through violence. It ends with Kondo and other Shinsengumi members in front of Ikedaya. Only chaos can ensue...

If you've enjoyed what you've seen of Peacemaker, buy this and volume 7. It has improved here near the end, and it can only get better as it continues.
