Let your body heal itself5
Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (1/09)

I have just spent the last five months of my life recovering from a back injury caused by a car accident. The pain was so excruciating; I've lost 31 pounds. Prior to the accident, I was very active, belonging to two gyms; I would exercise from one to three times a day. Now, I feel like a shell of myself, and am still having pain while undergoing rounds of painful epidural injections.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to read "EFT for Back Pain," that I did it in one sitting. I am not supposed to sit for more than 20 minutes at a time, so I broke the rules for this one. I have to say that it was well worth it. I am so excited and finally have hope that I will be able to fully escape the pain. Gary Craig offers steps for a Quick Start method early in the book. I am glad that he did this, because it allowed me to sample this type of treatment. I immediately saw some improvement with pain reduction.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. Craig states "the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." EFT techniques can free you from back pain, and other ailments, while at the same time help you heal emotionally. This will enable us all to have a better quality of life. He reports that 80% of cases find relief - 80% is a very significant number to me, especially if I can represent one of those percents!

EFT is also referred to as Emotional Acupuncture. Key acupuncture points are used, with tapping techniques rather than needles. That sounds wonderful to me! EFT is unique in that it addresses the causes, not the symptoms. Using these techniques can eliminate the need for drugs or other medical interventions, which from my personal experience can be very painful. It also can be used to help heal other ailments.

Even though I haven't gone further than the Quick Start yet, I really gained a lot of personal insight into how my emotions can be contributing to my pain, and how I might also sabotage myself with negative thoughts. While I read the case examples and the affirmation examples, the insight I gained was very healing. Even though I wasn't doing the tapping techniques, as I was reading, the phrases offered as examples were very healing to read when they applied to me.

Further information is available on the author's website. He includes a downloadable manual and information about accessing DVDs. I highly recommend "EFT for Back Pain" by Gary Craig to people who are suffering from either chronic or acute physical and or emotional pain. It can also be used by people who are living or working with others who fit into this category.
