Product Description

The Bilingual Talking Videophone allows children to communicate through language by introducing it to the sounds of the spoken language. When baby plays with the Videophone, they will see - via the video screen - where it is, what baby is seeing and what is happening.

The toy also features eight different situations that baby can create itself by changing the figures on the screen: baby first hears the name of the images that it sees and then, if it presses the red button, baby can listen to stories told by the video phone. Requires 2 "AA" batteries, included. Measures 6" x 11" x 11".

From the Manufacturer
The new Talking Video Phone is both interactive and bilingual (English/Spanish). It will stimulate the child to communicate through language by introducing it to the sounds of the spoken language. When baby plays with the Video Phone, the friendly phone will teach it. When baby speaks to the Video Phone, the friendly phone will tell it, through the images displayed on the screen, where it is, what baby is seeing and what is happening. The toy also features 8 different situations that baby can create itself by changing the figures on the screen. Baby first hears the name of the images that it sees and then, if it presses the red button, baby can listen to stories told by the video phone about the image. By using the buttons on the keyboard, children can discover the numbers 0 to 9 and can also listen to a fun song that they can sing along to on the musical track that follows. Recipient of the "2006 Best Toy of the Year" award by Child Magazine; The National Parenting Center "Seal of Approval"; and "Top 100 Toys of 2006" by Dr. Toy. Recommended for ages 18 mos. +.

Customer Reviews

Mixed feelings3
The biggest complaint I have about this product, for me, is that my child is only 20 months and I am trying to teach him numbers and words, in English, which is our first and native language. Unfortunately, because both language buttons are so big and pronounced, he keeps hitting the Spanish button and half the time the toy is speaking in Spanish. I wish the buttons were smaller and underneath the toy (like the sound button), so the parents could decide which language their child is hearing. If I had known the toy would be this way, I would not have purchased it. It's apparent when you first look at it, but when you actually bring it home and your child starts playing with it, you see that unless you want to teach your child to be bilingual at infancy, it's not that helpful.

Just okay3
My boys liked this okay, it is loud and clear and speaks both Spanish and English. They find the Spanish highly amusing for some reason (they are two and three). If you are looking for a fun phone for your child I'd recommend giving them an old cell phone or an imitation cell phone (Disney makes them) because I know with my kids they seem to always prefer to play with the real thing or something close to it.

Nice toy4
This is a nice toy, and my 2-yr olds love it, but the voice is simply creepy.
