Amazon.com Product Description
For the ultimate in no-compromises, totally-integrated mobile communications, look no further than the Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth Car Kit. When used with a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone, this device allows you to enjoy hands-free communication in your vehicle with a minimum of fuss. Plus, you'll get tons of great functionality that will keep you talking wherever you go.

The main feature of the IHF1000 is a robust voice recognition system. Just touch the blue button in the center of the control unit and the car kit will listen to your commands and make calls for you. The system's brilliant sound quality with noise reduction and high output sound optimizes sound quality for both you and the people on the other end. The center button is surrounded by a blue indicator LED light that provides a visual cue about the wireless speaker status. Four other buttons, all of which sport a beautiful chrome finish, offer easy access to mute functions and volume control, as well as the voice recognition features. Use the voice recognition button to easily place calls using your phone's voice dialing function. All buttons on the main unit are also backlit for easy viewing in dark conditions, and with a receiving range of 30 feet, you can be assured that the unit will communicate with a Bluetooth phone that's anywhere in your vehicle.

With the IHF1000, you're in total control of your in-car communications. Using the controls and voice commands, you can:

  • Pair up to four Bluetooth-enabled phones with the unit (only one may be used at a time)
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Mute and and un-mute calls
  • Voice dial by name up to 20 contacts stored on the device
  • Voice dial by number
  • Dial with the mobile phone keypad
  • Request system help
And if your phone supports it, you can also use the IHF1000 to make voice-activated calls from your phone's contacts list, redial the last number, accept or reject incoming calls, transfer audio to hands-free, and toggle between multi-party calls. All this functionality gives you the freedom to seamlessly switch between your mobile phone and the IHF1000 unit.

Multiple language support is built into the unit, too. The system supports voice recognition in English (US and UK), French (EU), Spanish, Italian and German, and there is no need to "train" the system in any of these languages. It recognizes them right out of the box. As for compatibility with handsets, Motorola states that any Bluetooth phone that supports the Hands-free Profile should work with the IHF1000, but you'll want to check with your phone manufacturer to make sure. Also, note that professional installation is required for the IHF1000 system.

What's in the Box
Chrome keypad, directional microphone, Bluetooth module, wiring connectors and fuse kit, 5-Watt external speaker, mounting hardware, user manual, installation guide.

solid product - works wonderfully. Bought one for each car.4
I installed the unit myself connecting it directly to the cars stereo so it mutes the radio when the call comes in and uses the cars existing speakers for audio. Though I had to order special connector from the dealer to do this. Even the mic location was built into the car. (an Audi) When I make calls with the IHF 1000, people on the other end of the conversation find it hard to believe that I'm in a car. Well developed and vastly better then some factory systems I've experienced. Voice dialing is a little tricky at first because you have to speak fast and consistantly. In fact it will recognize the numbers faster than you can speak! It also helps to memorize many of the voice commands in case it doesn't understand you the first time. For instance, if you speak a wrong number you can go back and edit the number without repeating the whole phone number over again. Links perfectly with all of our phones - V3 and V600 - and it can even call and receive from either phone while both are connected. You can link up to four phones at one time. It used to say "call ended" before answering a call but then I was pressing the wrong button when answering. I cannot imagine driving without such a device in our cars.

Safe, simple handsfree operation5
This car kit is wonderful! We had it professionally installed and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it up and running. I have it paired with both my phone and my husband's and it recognizes which phone is in the car and announces "Phone two ready" as soon as the car is started. The sound quality on both ends is phenomenal. When my husband calls me, despite the fact we have a pretty loud Mini with a manual transmission, I can hear him as if he's holding the phone to his ear in a library! I would highly recommend this product, especially for those people who find themselves juggling more than one task in the car at once.

Relatively Hands-free4
I purchased this system about a year ago and had it installed by a professional. The system works beautifly with my Moto V551 and is without major bugs. The names I store in it are easily accessed and it can even tell the differance between my similar named contacts i.e. Call Chris L. or call Chris R. The only PROBLEM I have had with the system is it has a difficult time making voice number dialed calls. It sometimes reverses the numbers five and nine, and also when its not sure what you've said it simply adds a one. I have tried this in a dead silent car and it still has trouble. You can improve your success rate by simply saying the numbers in the seperate groups for example the area code first: "509" then wait for it to repeat then confirm, then give it the prefix, wait for confirmation and then continue. With the exception of the before mentioned problem I love this system and it has saved me a lot of fumbling and swerving in the end. My friends don't see many of these where I live and so I also have to put up with them calling it the "Bat-phone" But this is a great system!!!
