This 6 Qt enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Lid knob is oven safe to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. 10 3/4" diameter, 4 1/2" deep. Cafe'

Great Dutch Oven
The first time I used this pot I burned my soup because it got so hot! Like any cast iron pot, it heats up slowly but retains a lot of heat. The enamel makes it very easy to clean and nothing sticks! the size of it makes it perfect for cooking large amounts of stew, soup, or even boiling a whole chicken for stock.
Dutch Oven Crazy
Love, love, love this cast iron dutch oven. Made three meals in it already and all were delicious. The cast Iron keeps the heat in for those wonderful slow cooking recipes. The enamal coating inside is still brand new looking. Followed all the directions for cooking and cleaning and it holds up beautifully.
Perfect soup and stew vehicle
Very good looking, high performance vessel; nice enough to stay out of the cupboard, which, given its weight, is just as well. If you want to transfer from the stove-top to the oven to the table, this is what you are looking for; and the price is right, too. As others have mentioned, Lodge had its products independently tested for the dreaded Chinese lead enamel and it came back clean. The only caveat I can think of is there are no 'drip bumps' inside the lid, so this may not be the perfect oven if you need even distribution of cooled steam (as in baked beans).
Wholehearted recommendation.
