Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor 1.8" Screen WhiteSummer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor 1.8" Screen White
Buy new: $165.00
Put this at the tip top of your list. I can't imagine life without it, and from all the reading I've done (reviews and first-hand recommendations) this is the best one out there. I think there is one on Amazon with a slightly larger screen than the one at BRU/Target, but I can't promise anything.
Philips Avent Isis On The Go SetPhilips Avent Isis On The Go Set
Buy new: $50.48
Best pump ever. You can really customize pumping to your own let-down patterns when you do it by hand, and it doesn't really take any longer (many say it's quicker) or tire your hand. I told myself I'd buy electric when I felt like I needed it, and I never upgraded because this one was perfect. The kit comes with enough little extras to make it worthwhile.
Fisher-Price Healthy Care Booster Seat - BlueFisher-Price Healthy Care Booster Seat - Blue
Buy new: $26.99
BEST SEAT for on the go. In fact, better than most highchairs for home. Have two if you want one clean on the way out the door. Extra tray - great for eating twice between washings. Lid - great for keeping tray clean before dinner, or grime contained after dinner. Straps secure. Easy to install on every chair out there. No crevices, easy to wipe. I could go on and on and on....
Bottle BrushBottle Brush

A nice bottle brush. Basic, but perfect.
Graco Quattro Tour Travel System with SafeSeat in KasbahGraco Quattro Tour Travel System with SafeSeat in Kasbah
Buy new: $215.40
Excessive? I don't think so. The stroller is NICE. The infant seat is convenient. I like this particular combo with the larger SafeSeat (you'll miss the portability and sunshade(!) when it's outgrown). Even after you'd rather not lug your baby around, it's nice to be able to take the seat in and out of the car in extreme weather, or if you REALLY don't want to disturb that nap.
Evenflo Triumph Advance DLX Convertible Car Seat - ParksideEvenflo Triumph Advance DLX Convertible Car Seat - Parkside
Buy new: $126.50
I was all set to buy the highest-recommended Britax Marathon, when I started hearing great things about this seat for less than half the price. We love it. The extended rear-facing weight limit is 35 lbs, and the shoulder strap limits are high (two things to look for in convertible longevity/value).
Maclaren Volo Stroller - CarbonMaclaren Volo Stroller - Carbon
Buy new: $99.99
Never thought I’d spend $100 on an umbrella stroller, but I did a ton of research and I'm glad I did. If you're taller than 5'6", it's next to impossible to find a cheaper stroller that you don't kick the wheels. The Volo is also ultra light, easy to fold/unfold, has a sunshade and small basket. I got an organizer that hangs off the back with pockets for waterbottles and a small purse/stuff.
Fisher-Price Rainforest BouncerFisher-Price Rainforest Bouncer
Buy new: $39.00
A bouncer OR swing is a good idea for the first 4-6 months. Gives baby some mom-free entertainment and stimulation, or a quiet place to nap. This is how you will get showered!
Evenflo ExerSaucer Delux - Wild ThingEvenflo ExerSaucer Delux - Wild Thing
Buy new: $49.99
From 4-12 months, you'll want an exersaucer or jumperoo to replace the bouncer/swing (if you ever want to shower again). These are easy to pick up on Craigslist, since they're so bulky that nobody wants to keep them any longer than they have to.
Tiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe - Lights&MusicTiny Love Gymini Super Deluxe - Lights&Music
Buy new: $54.74
Baby gyms are cool from newborn till they're pulling to stand. In many ways, they're more valuable than the "containers" like bouncers and exersaucers. They encourage tummy time, which is ever so essential. We liked this one best. The toys are cool. It comes with lots of fancy stickers of all the awards it's won, so it has to be good.
"One Fish, Two Fish Bumkins Super Bib: Yellow""One Fish, Two Fish Bumkins Super Bib: Yellow"
Buy new: $6.95
This brand of bib is the best! Worth the price. The fabric is water-repellant, but soft like cloth. Of course it has a pocket, but an unnoticed perk is that the neck size is more adjustable than most. This is more of a food bib. Two or three may be plenty since you can rinse them and hang to dry quickly. You will also want a bazillion of the cloth ones for the earlier drooly stage.
The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two (Revised and Updated Edition)The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two (Revised and Updated Edition) by William Sears
Buy new: $14.95 / Used from: $5.89
The best book, especially if you are at all into the attachment parenting, infant-led philosophies. (i.e. breastfeeding, babywearing, cosleeping, no-cry)
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding: Seventh Revised Edition (La Leche League International Book)The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding: Seventh Revised Edition (La Leche League International Book) by La Leche League International
Buy new: $12.24 / Used from: $7.99
The best book about breastfeeding. I found so much valuable info in here that other books never told me. Like when books say "empty one breast first," they don't really mean it because BREASTS NEVER TRULY EMPTY!
Playtex Premium Designer Nurser 8 oz. - 3 pkPlaytex Premium Designer Nurser 8 oz. - 3 pk
Buy new: $10.61
If you baby is primarily breastfed, you may be surprised to find out that you don't get much say in what brand of bottles he/she will drink from. This is what my little one finally decided he's accept.
Seal N Go Breast Milk Freezer Disposable Liners - 25 / PackSeal N Go Breast Milk Freezer Disposable Liners - 25 / Pack
Buy new: $2.99
The best and most economical freezer bags, especially if you're using Playtex nursers, since they double as bottle liners. Aside from the liner issue, "best" is debateable. Lansinoh are nice too, though pricier.
Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)
Buy new: $20.99
I'm sure this is a personal preference, but I went through all the brands and liked this one best.
Lively LinksLively Links
Buy new: $4.95
Not just a toy, but a tool. Use these to attach toys to stuff (stroller, carseat) to keep toys off the ground, or to string toys together. Of course, they can be toys in and of themselves. Just all-around handy. Get a brand with loops big enough to fit around carseat/stroller handles, though, because not all of them do.
