From Booklist
"A familiar name in needleworking takes her latest bow with a book joining The Encyclopedia of Crochet Techniques (2006) and 200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Throws, and Afghans (2005), among others. Eaton works her expert magic in compiling a jam-packed, every-page-worth-perusing reference that even experienced crafters will return to again and again. Who could resist 'Fix It' panels, featuring solutions to such problems as yarn that catches on plastic hooks and recycling swatches into potholders? Or the 'Try It' columns that shows a variety of decorative options. The 'insider secrets' angle extends to all seven chapters, starting with the anatomy of a crochet hook and concluding with the best tips on dealing with thick yarn ends and blocking. Design ideas, completed swatches, and step-by-step instructions, most illustrated with great color photographs, add even more value to a soon-to-be-treasured and well-worn publication. Appended are working guidelines, size charts, stitch symbols, American/English teminology, arrangements of symbols, standard laundering symbols, conversions, equivalent weights, categories of yarn, gauge ranges, and recommended hook sizes, along with a "fold out this flap," featuring a ruler, hook sizes, and crochet abbreviations."

BEING A NEW-COMER TO CROCHETING, I ONLY STARTED IN OCTOBER OF 2007, THIS BOOK IS INDISPENSIBLE, WITH TIPS AND SUCH. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY BETTER PURCHASES.....

Awesome Book!5
I received this book a few days ago, and am still reading through it, because it is packed with so much useful information. Everything from the best stitch patterns for various items, to shaping garments, to selecting yarn, to fixing problems is covered. I love that the book even has a few mini-projects for the reader to try our new techniques. The book is also very well-organized, and the photography is lovely - so bright and clear. Overall it's an excellent book, and a must for an crocheter's library.
