great information for the novice and professional
Pamela Taylor's Makeup Techniques is an essential tool for anyone who enjoys the behind the scenes information of a true makeup professional. This book covers the A-Z content of all there is to know. It includes chapters on color theory and mixing, all application methods, proper brush usage, and many different ways og applying the latest makeup techniques. Also available as of Jan 2000, is Pamela Taylor's course on Video which is an exciting and colorful video featuring Taylor working on a live model. The video is excellent, and also highly recommended. See it in the video section of Amazon.

Not as a gift
I bought this book as a gift to my wife, but when I received it, I noticed that although it's a hardcover, and has a nice picture on the cover, and despite the price, it is not suitable for a gift. Not as a relatively special gift anyhow:
It's really thin (I don't know much about make-up, but I imagine you can't describe many techniques in 150 pages with huge type size), and the paper is rather coarse. Colors are somehow faded (pictures look rather old) and, overall, I believe the book is not truly worth the price.
