Customer Reviews
Very expensive for a poor introductory book
The book is ok as introduction. But don't expect you will learn much. Just to say few new words in the pub to your non financial friends.
It has some mistakes, definitions sometimes unclear, wrong words (I've just read a sentence where it says 'volume' instead of 'volatility')
It's like if there were different authors and all rewritten by another one who doesn't understand the subject.
It makes an attempt to explain options, but it falls in chaos, something explained in detail, next related thing explained in just one sentence.
Overall, it's not bad as a introduction, very bad put together and not well reviewed, but you get to know some concepts.
I rate it the lowest because although the book works as an introduction, the price is extremely high for a low value, badly written, introductory book.
Absolutely not worth this much money.
A Good Preliminary Investment
If you want a nice mixture of infrastructure info and basic risk management priniciples for this sector of the derivatives market, this book is a good investment. Not overly burdened with the mathematical models underpinning pricing for every single type of instrument in existence, I really like this book for giving me both a decent range of information on the nuts and bolts of how these are traded and the macro principles involved in examining their risk context.
