Breyer culture5
This might be a helpful hint for people. Breyer's are not toys. They are collectible statuettes. They have a massive following of collectors and enthusiasts. There is even several large conventions for people who collect them and an entire sub-culture of people who remold and repaint the models for contests and prizes. So... Breyer's are not really toys. Your kids can play with them but they are not a sturdy toy for heavy play.

love horses4
I bought these for my daughter for Christmas because she loves horses. They're very nice small versions of Breyer horses. However, several of their feet have broken off, but we just glued 'em back on. She loves them just the same, and named them all.

Well, not so much as a toy . . .5
Amazon probably shouldn't be marketing Breyers as toys: Stablemates used to be sold as "not recommended for children under the age of eight" precisely because they are small and are made of a non-flexible plastic which holds sculptural detail well but is less durable than, say, Schleich toys. Personally, I got my first Stablemates at age three and still have all of them intact, so children who play thoughtfully should be able to manage, but Breyers are not intended to be thrown around. "Educational", I suppose, depends on what you make of them--a kid who is interested in horses can certainly use them to learn more about horses, art, etc. However, much of the Breyer "industry" lies in collecting, customizing, and showing, not in "play" in the usual sense. If your kids want to throw them around, get Grand Champions or Schleich that are meant to be treated roughly. Save the Breyers for when they are older.
