Product Description

Knights are supposed to be big, brave dragon fighters, but Small Knight doesn’t feel big or brave. In fact, he shivers in his boots as he rides out on his horse in search of a fierce dragon. He goes from place to place, asking the local people if they’ve seen a dragon that he can fight, but he is always a little too late. A fierce dragon has already come and then gone from each place he visits. The people tell him frightening dragon stories, which makes Small Knight realize that he really doesn’t want to fight a dragon at all. On his way home at the end of the day, Small Knight meets a strange but friendly little creature hiding in the shrubbery. What Small Knight fails to realize is that this friendly meeting will cause general panic the moment he returns home to his castle. Very funny color illustrations on every page.

From the Inside Flap
(back cover)
“Dragons live in caves, they breathe fire and they’re green and very fierce,” explained Dad Knight. “You’ll know one when you see one. Knights have to be big and brave and fight them. That’s what knights do.”

A warm and witty story on a popular theme to entertain small knights everywhere!

Terrific book about a knight and a dragon5
I stumbled across this by luck in a Houston bookstore. Our 4 1/2 year old and 2 year old boys both instantly loved this book. The small knight reluctantly sets out to fight a fierce dragon because "That's what brave knights do." He finds George, a small, extremely friendly dragon who is himself afraid of fierce dragons. The story is nonviolent and both characters completely loveable. It gives kids a chance to learn a bit about knights and dragons in a really nice and sometimes humorous way. If your kids have any interest at all in either knights or dragons, I think they will love this--and you'll probably like it, too.
