Got this at Costco at a better price than this one, but it comes with everything you need to grate cheese (for fondue it is especially helpful), to blend fruit while making sorbet, to chop vegetables, to blend broccoli soup...

I went to this restaurant in Victoria BC during a conference and loved it. I have never made a bad dish when using this book. My favorite are the yam and pepita quesadillas, lemon ricotta hotcakes and gala apple salad.

These are healthy, small-batch recipes that are fairly simple compared to other cookbooks (including rebar). The variety of cuisines is also nice. You can avoid having a week worth of leftovers by making these recipes.

This is great because it is virtually unbreakable plastic, it is microwaveable, and holds the perfect amount to fill up a travel mug for tea or coffee in the morning. Since it reads from the top rather than the right, you don't have to get your eye at counter level to measure.

I have this and it is made very sturdily. If they made a left-handed one I would surely use it much more often... it is difficult to use with my left hand.

These are great to use as trivets, for preventing bowls and pots from slipping around the counter and for opening difficult jars.

These flexible cutting boards are helpful when cooking recipes with multiple people or with many ingredients. As long as you don't slam down on them too hard with a knife they last a while even if you wash them in the dishwasher.

This is a great, thin, splash-free thermos. I never use the tea infusing top because you cannot microwave it, but if you are near a coffee shop you can often get free hot water, and the infuser would be very convenient.

Even though it only has three speeds, it works well enough to beat a couple egg whites to stiff peaks in a minute, which is the real test of beaters in my opinion.

I just discovered the many uses of this pan when I used it to cook meat. It is great because the sides of the pan do not get in the way when making meat, pancakes or quickly cooking something to go in a dish after.

I have spilled lots of things and just got these funnels. OXO is always a good brand.

If you have a sharpener and these knives, plus a santoku or a paring knife for every day use, you will be all set.

This mini bread machine comes with a useful recipe booklet and mixes can be bought through king arthur flour. Good for someone who doesn't eat a whole loaf of bread in three days. Also makes cakes and jam!

This stuff smells good and the dishwashing soap and counter spray work well in a non-germaphobic kitchen. I am glad to not have harsh chemicals cleaning my counters.

This espresso machine works very well and is tolerant of forgetful owners who don't change water or clean the coffee hopper for a few days.
