Editorial Reviews

Review
I regularly create scrapbook pages about my favorite ethnic holidays which include Kwanzaa, Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Then I purchased the book, Ethnic Scrapbooking by Lisa Sanford. Lisa's 116 page book encompasses more than African American layouts. As you turn the pages you will find colorful and creative layouts about the Jewish, Indian, Asian, African and Latin American cultures, along with many others. The book also contains tips to make ethnic pages of your own as well as a peek into Lisa's studio. I truly enjoyed reading this book. --Staci Williams

Until now -- award-winning scrapbooker, designer, and instructor Lisa Sanford has released Ethnic Scrapbooking, an idea book geared toward providing meaningful inspiration to scrapbookers of all skill levels. When Sanford's sister returned from a trip to Africa, she handed Lisa a stack of over 2000 photos and asked her to scrapbook them with cultural flair. An avid scrapbooker with over 70 albums in her library, Sanford was up to the challenge, but quickly realized that the travel scrapbooking products wouldn't convey the sense of culture she wanted to capture. How do you depict the attitudes and ways of living of a people? Their customs, their traditions, and their values? Sanford couldn't find those answers, so she created her own. The result: Ethnic Scrapbooking, Sanford's 116-page book released September 2007 --Angie Pedersen

Capturing memories4
Lisa Sanford takes her love of scrapbooking, which is more than a hobby, and shares with readers how to incorporate their ethnic roots into the craft. Sanford informs readers that scrapbooking can contain elements of family traditions, cultural beliefs and their diverse family history. The colorful, glossy pages are eye-catching and the information helps one to think outside the box when creating memories to cherish.

Being one who has all my pictures stored in bags, boxes and crammed in photo albums, I am inspired to organize and display my experiences in a more meaningful and appealing manner. ETHNIC SCRAPBOOKING is an excellent book for beginners or advanced scrapbookers. The end results - a reflection of deep family traditions, history and culture - can be handed down from generation to generation. But, this book can be embraced by all, regardless of ethnicity.
