Amazon.com Product Description
With 600 watts of pulsing power, this five-speed blender works great for making smoothies, frozen drinks, soups, salsas, and more. The unit's soft-start feature starts the blender at a lower speed to prevent splattering, and its ice-crush function easily crushes ice by intermittently pulsing for maximum efficiency. Two 50-ounce jars are included, one glass and one stainless steel, both with durable, sealed lids and removable blades. And there's no need to turn or twist the jar for positioning--just drop it onto the base and the jar will automatically lock into place.

For safety, the blender shuts down the motor if the jar is removed from the base while in operation. Other useful features include illuminated soft-touch controls, cord storage, and jar lids with removable ingredient caps. The blender's heavy-duty base ensures maximum stability, and its brushed aluminum finish beautifully complements any kitchen decor. Designed and engineered in Italy, the blender measures 15-1/3 by 14-2/5 by 8-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews

Finally, a blender that really makes a first class smoothie!5
After trying out three "lesser" blenders, I decided to spend a little more to see if I could find one that does it all - blending fruit, chopping ice thoroughly, etc without having to shake it or periodically stop the process to stir the ingredients. Not only does this baby do it all, but it does it *quietly* and quickly. Yes, it costs a bit more (though one can buy this model with or without the second stainless steel container). But it does what it promised, with no fuss whatsoever. Not only that, but the design allows for very quick cleaning/rinsing, with no exposed seams that are difficult to clean.

Add to that the cool, simple styling and very solid-feeling control dial. I'm a tough one to please, but I highly recommend this blender!

Form over Function2
I bought this blender based on the reviews here, as well as its great-looking design. When I got the blender, only one of those factors came through.

First thing I noticed: both blender jars leaked badly. After reseating the seal in the glass jar and tightening it as hard as possible, the leak was slightly reduced. The metal jar still poured out liquids from the base.

Second thing I noticed: this blender cannot make a good smoothie. Even after a couple minutes of blending, there are chunks of ice and fruit which have been totally untouched by the blades (regardless of how little ice is put in the smoothie). For a blender of any price, the DeLonghi does a poor job making smoothies. For a blender that costs what the DeLonghi does, this performance is totally unjustifiable.

But, hey, it does look really good.

Fragile Italian Design with far too many parts2
Like many say it has a nice design but functionally it is poor. The Glass Jar has 8 parts, the Steel Jar has 7 parts, and glass jar broke within 6 months of light use. I also second the fact that this unit is prone to leaking and as a professional chef I can tell you this is not worth the time or money as there are better products out there.
