This work by the former Episcopal Bishop of Newark, New Jersey, opened my eyes to what was really in the New Testament as opposed to what is said to be in the New Testament.

The last part of "Neo-Gnosis" is heavily influenced by Pagels' 30 years on look at the Gospel of Thomas and the various early Christian beliefs labeled "Gnosticism"

King's look at the Gospel of Mary Magdalene looks into the account that turns the role of Peter on its head!

Spong's hopeful follow up to "Why Christianity Must Change..." ...might be a bit too hopeful.

An interesting reexamination of Jesus' role in his contemporary Judaic setting. I don't agree with Ehrman's conclusions here, but I enjoy the way he examines the questions.

An interesting attempt by Spong to separate Jesus the loving teacher from the stain of ignorance tainting his name caused by Fundamentalism.

Another thinner Crossan work, easier to get through than his more academic work.

Chilton's look at the contemporary life of Jesus is idealistic, but enjoyable. His view of Jesus' common meal is inspiring, if a bit too fanciful for my taste.
