"Different" zombie tales. Xombies, The Dead, Deathbringer, The Autumn series, To Wake the Dead, Drop Dead Gourgeous, and others provide the reader with a different take on the living dead than the traditional Romero zombie.

Self published zombie fare is a staple of the genre. Eric Brown has produced a very large amount of undead tales...in short story, novella, and full novel sizes. Besides his compendiums of short stories there is Cobble, Season of Rot, War of the Worlds with Zombies, and several others still to come. Eric definitely keeps busy with the rotting buggers.

Max Brooks has written probably two of the most fun and widely recognized zombie books out there. The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z. One is your manual on how to make it through the zombie apocalypse, with guns, tactics, etc while the other tells us all the stories of the folks who actually survived the apocalyptical world war.

This book and its sequel, Down The Road: The Last Day very much adhere to the classic Romero zombie setup. The government and military are domineering overlords who use the zombie apocalypse as an excuse to suppress the surviving populous. A third novel is scheduled as well.

Anthologies/short stories abound in the zombieverse. 'The Undead' (4 installments), 'Book of All Flesh' (3), and 'Book of the Dead'(2). Other titles include The Living Dead, Bits of the Dead, Dead World, The Ultimate Zombie, Mondo Zombie, Dead Science, Zombology, The World is Dead, Zombie Nation and History is Dead.

This work, along with other works such as 'Book of the Dead', 'Eaten Alive', 'Zombiemania', 'Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide', 'Zombie Holocaust', and 'Introducing Zombies' examine all the different cinematic achievements with zombies. From the American originators to the Italians who turned it all into high art (grusome high art, that is), these books cover it all.

The Granddaddy of Zombie Graphic Novel series. Others series and stand alones include: Zombie Highway, Marvel Zombies, Zombies!, Zombie TPD, Zombie Tales, Deadworld, Remains, Recess Pieces, Zombee, Zombieworld, The Goon, Dead West, Zombie Factory, Zombies vs. Robots, Xombie, Escape of the Living Dead, Tales of the Zombie, Raise the Dead, and the Night of the Living Dead.

Two novels on humanity's battle not only with the living dead that populate this world but also their realization that zombies are far less horrifying than the evil that lives in the hearts of humankind. Kim has also written Gospel of the Living Dead, an examination of the religious implication of Romero's Zombies.

A movie tie-in of sorts. The movie must have been made, though there is little about it on the web, for a miniscule budget. Not a bad little story about zombies being more pests than their normal apocalyptic self...that and how they might have been created for corporate greed.

Zombie titles of the 80s and 90s were fairly creative. This title takes us back to the wild west, while 'I,Zombie' takes us to the future. 'Wet Work' gives us a Black Ops type zombie story and 'Legion of the Dead' gives us more of an ancient god that raises the dead type of tale.

A totally different and worthwhile journey into the zombie universe. Ripe with controversy, conspiracy, and shadowy men doing diabolical things, this book gets you thinking...not just about the undead, but the living as well.

Anthony Giangregorio not only is a prolific independent author but also a publisher of Living Dead Press. Far too many books to mention between his own stories and those of the other authors under his nameplate. But just search in Amazon under his name and you will get a massive overview of all the zombie stuff he's involved with.

A new trilogy from AP Fuchs, with the first book dealing with the few living remaining inside a Canadian city trying to stay alive while the dead continue to grow more restless around them.

This, Zombies 101, The Zombie Handbook, and Zombies: A Field Guide to the Walking Dead are tomes that deal with how to deal with zombies, their history, why they exist, etc. Great guides for the zealous zombie fan. Jonathan Maberry also has written Patient Zero, a thriller where the undead are the weapons of mass destruction.

It appears as if this is a start of an entirely new sub-genre, with War of the World's and Huckleberry Finn also being re-envisioned with zombies in them. It will be interesting to see what other interesting classics get zombotized.

God of the Dead and Don of the Dead are both a mix of the Mafia and the undead...God of the Dead is a actual script with WW3 happening in the background and Don of the Dead is more of a traditional (if you can call it that) mob drama.

Astronauts return to earth to discover it has been overrun by zombies. Interesting to see how the sci-fi and horror combo works out.

Outcast teens vs. Zombies. Not sure if this is for teenagers or if it is as graphic as the normal zombie fare but it sounds like the kids who were bullied in school are going to get their revenge against the in crowd...or die trying.
