Product Description

When life hands you lemons, make butterflies! This color illustrated guide for the beginning food sculptor explores different carving techniques and offers a broad range of projects simple enough for anyone to accomplish, beautiful enough to astonish any guest. Likewise, the experienced food sculptor will find this book a gold mine of ideas. It's packed with images and stencil templates for creating amazing table centerpieces, plus plate and platter garnishes. Trained in the capital of China, Yuci Tan brings Oriental design to edible food sculptures. Deli slices never looked so good, and who would ever have thought a honeydew melon could be so versatile. Simple tomatoes and cucumbers become works of art, and hard boiled eggs, apples, and eggplants are transformed into charming characters, tropical fish, and elegant flowers. And here, finally, is the solution to that annual conundrum - what to do with the garden's overabundance of zucchini. Explore the possibilities!

Customer Reviews

Please don't buy!1
After having read the previous review i made the gamble and bought the book. Please don't make the same mistake. The book laks proffessionalism, instructions and originality. The book is a lousy collection of pictures of low grade food carvings, and gives no or minimal instructions on how to recreate them. if it was not for all the hassle and costs involved this book would have been returned on the same day as received!

A book for all levels4
I have been in the food service industry for 18 years, and am always looking for new ideas. A friend told me about this book a month ago and I've been having fun with it ever since. There are so many original designs and instructions on how to create them. And many are easy enough for my kids to do.

Poor quality!!!!1
Do not buy this book!!! 10 minutes after I recieved the book, I decided to return it. The pictures of the sculpters are a poor quality, and some are not pictures at all, but are hand drawn illustraions (not good illustraions either). Even the sculptures themselves are tacky (littlerabbits with pink ears and so forth). Again...Please do not waste your money on this book.
