From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. For fans without the ways or means to get to Memphis-or who just want to relive their last visit-pop-up master Murphy provides a scream-worthy up-close-and-personal desktop tour of Elvis Presley's famous Graceland estate in this brilliantly low-tech 3-D volume. Stuffed with photos, mementos-in-miniature and other goodies (including a wearable cardboard facsimile of Elvis's trademark sunglasses), this tribute to the King's castle features painstakingly engineered replicas of numerous Graceland sites, including the manse exterior, the living room and music room, the jungle room, TV room and meditation garden. The margins are stacked with insightful text and brief looks at other aspects of Elvis's home life, such as his Tiki furniture, his firearms collection and the U.S. Department of Justice badge he received from President Nixon, which made him an official federal narcotics officer. In her foreword, Elvis's daughter Priscilla shares his pride in the home, describing it as a place "where he felt comfortable, secure and happy"; this intricate, wholly absorbing collectible is sure to make the King's followers feel similarly, giving them a unique opportunity to enjoy Elvis's home from their own living room, jungle room or meditation garden.

Great fun for Elvis fans!4
I bought this book for my grandma for Christmas, and it was the life of the party! She is a huge Elvis fan and has been to Graceland a couple of times with my aunt. They said the rooms in the book really looked as they did on the tour. There were apparently a couple of rooms that were not on the tour that are in the book (including the bedroom and kitchen). It starts with the outside of Graceland and goes through several rooms and there is also a scene of his gravesite.

The kitchen popup allows the "reader" to open the fridge and the cabinets to see what's inside, and the fridge is in 3-D when the doors are open so that you can see each shelf. Everyone who saw the book got a kick out of the idea of a popup book for adults.

The only thing that kept me from giving a full 5 stars was the fact that the pop-ups have to be folded carefully in order to keep them from bending, and once the cabinets and doors have been opened, it makes it a little harder to fold without bending the doors.

All in all, I think this a good book for Elvis fans, and I would recommend this for someone as a memoir of their trip to Graceland.

A Must for Elvis Fans5
This is no joke--the pop ups in GRACELAND truly bring Elvis's mansion to life, and let fans interact with the rooms and the contents of the house like never before. This book could easily have camped it up, but it doesn't--it just delivers on its promise. Elvis fans will love it.

Graceland is a work of art by Chuck Murphy. He has created an interactive pop up book that takes the reader right into the heart of Elvis' Graceland. There are nine separate, two pages spreads on various aspects of the famous home in which Elvis resided from 1957 until his death in 1977. The spreads include, among others, scenes of his kitchen, Jungle Room, his hobbies and wardrobe. As the pages are turned the scenes grow from the pages into three dimensional splendor. The sides of each page also open to expose more information with more pop ups. But it is the details on the pop up pages that are the glory of this book. 'Walk' through the TV room and change the channels on the tv, rifle through Elvis's record collection. Then open the side flap to pop out his bar and pull the tab to reveal his hidden movie projector. The section on his exhibits (added to tours of Graceland in 2000) have 5 flaps that open to show a case holding his firearm collection, samples from his law enforcement badge collection (which numbered in the hundreds) and even a removable paper replica of one his famous sunglasses. The refrigerator and cupboards in the kitchen scene opens, the related text includes a list of items Elvis insisted be kept stocked at all times. Each themed scenario is equally complex and complete.

This book is a collectable for both Elvis fans and connoisseurs of the art of paper engineering or pop ups. Elvis fans will love the inside look at his beloved home. The accompanying text, including a foreword by Pricilla Presley, gives plentiful information on Elvis, his life and his home. The photographs and 3-D representations are the next best thing to a trip to Memphis. It is the ultimate, unique gift for Elvis fans.

Art lovers will be fascinated by the intricacy of the paper engineering, the amazing construction of each display and the inspired detail that is included. Pop ups are a visual art form that takes the traditionally flat media of literature and expands it into dimensional beauty. Murphy uses his expertise in the form to bring life to the story of Graceland.
