Customer Reviews
Welcome to 21st Century
We may not have personal jet packs, and flying cars. But a functional remote control helicopter is just as cool. Unlike other micro copters this looks like a science project rather than a cheap toy. It is structurally sound, and with practice can be flown with precision. It gives a good sense of how helicopters work, and how force vectors combine to create acceleration and hence movement.
The two front leds are bright and colour changing, the construction is excellent like a well made watch, flying times are good and recharge time is fast.
The ideal toy for technical minded boys and girls from 13 to 103.
Well I now have the original Radio Shack version as well. The original is more stable and easier to fly, but at just over a third of the price this 'Japanese rip-off' is still good value for money.
Precision
This is a pretty cool little device. It seems more solid, powerful, and precise than some of the other palm-sized helis. It's very stable, but does require you to fiddle with the trim frequently while it's running to keep it pointed in one direction. It's so stable that forward and reward motion is all but removed - it only moves forward at about a foot every 5-6 seconds, but, unlike some of the other small helis, actually goes where you want it to all the time.
I was a bit disappointed when I first fired it up as it's really slow & sometimes the chaos of the other mico helis is fun. That said, the mosquito has grown on me - I can always put it where I want it, the battery lasts a long time on each charge, and it's cool to be able to go forward and backward without adding weights to the thing.
Great Product - Once You Get A Working One...
Please note before you buy this item that it is a cheap imported japanese rip-off of Radioshack's RC Mosquito Helicopter and is not the original product.
When I ordered two of these, one for me and one for my brother, fully aware of the above fact, we recieved one physically broken and one nonfunctional micro helicopter. I was firm with the company and explained the issue, and they paid for return shipping on the helicopters and sent us new ones at no cost, but with a two-week wait. My brother recieved one that is broken but the place that is broken does not affect its flying ability (for now). The one I recieved is fully functional and flies great, and I am happy with it. My brother may send his in again. I am telling you this because the product itself is great and fun, but chances are you will get a broken one if you order one. Be firm with the company and after a few trade-ins you may end up with a working one. It would be safer and easier but 3x as expensive to go to your local radioshack and get the original micro mosquito and have it work great the first time. Do not buy this if you do not want to go through the process of contacting the company and getting replacements. Once you finally get a working one, though, you will be getting quite a bargain for such a cheap price.
