Editorial Reviews

From the Manufacturer
With the 2.4Ghz technology, this backup camera achieves a signal distance of up to 30". This is great for not only installing it onto cars and trucks, but also on the 5th wheels and motor homes. The monitor has a clear color 3.5" LCD screen that is very easy to set up, and has many convenient features, including A/V cables that allow for the connection of media and game devices, a headphone jack for use when watching a DVD or playing a game, and mini USB port for use when charging devices like cell phones, IPOD, MP3 players, and digital cameras.

The monitor also has features that allow you to change the rotation or plane orientation of the picture, and adjust the contrast and color just as you would on a television. Additionally, there are multiple mounting options for mounting the monitor. Included are visor mounts, air vent mounts, headrest mounts, and dashboard mount. The camera is completely wireless (in that it sends a signal from itself to the monitor in the front of the vehicle), with only minor installation required. It not only works during the day, but also at night by changing into a night vision camera when no sunlight is detected, thus giving the user 24 hour usage capabilities.

NOTE: The purpose of this unit is to be used to assist in safe reversing and parking, and should not be a replacement for safe driving practices.

Camera Installation
Installation is simple; you only need to connect two wires in order to begin using the product.

The camera comes with three wires, power, ground, and an antenna. Connect it to your vehicles backup lights by connecting the power and ground wires to those connected to your backup lights. The power and ground colors vary by vehicle model. The antenna does not have to be wired to anything. Instead, just find the best place for it by moving it around until it is sending the strongest and clearest image to the monitor. Once the wiring is completed, place the camera to the back of the license plate by using the included double sided tape.

Monitor Installation

The monitor has two installation options. You can simply plug it in to your 12V AC port, or you can hardwire it using the included wire harness. The wire harness has three wires; power, ground, and an interrupt wire. To connect, you can connect the power and ground to any other power and ground in the vehicle. The interrupt wire is slightly more difficult to connect: You will need to find the backup light power wire that is coming from either the vehicles fuse box, or the transmission. Connecting the interrupt wire will allow the monitor to come on and turn off with the camera.

To use the device, just put your vehicle into reverse and turn the monitor on (assuming you did not hardwire it). If you are unsure as to your ability to work with wires, consult a professional.

Customer Reviews

Its not too bad.3
For a product that costs about a third of what you'd pay for the others its not too bad.

My views on it:
It takes long to receive an image only if the monitor (Viewer) was not turned on first. I think the built-in receiver takes a while to initialize or something. If you turn it on prior to using it then the picture fires right up.
The picture is quite good and it has extremely good low light capabilities.

Not so cool stuff:
It picks up other backup cameras and other wireless security cameras.
If the monitor is on and you are not in reverse (if you installed just like in the instructions)any wireless camera in range is shown. This can be kinda cool for some. You wouldn't believe the things folk monitor with wireless cameras.
The tag mounted camera is really too big and obvious. I worry about someone seeing it and ripping it off damaging my SUV if I'm parked in a bad neighborhood. A less camera-looking camera would have been better.
The dashboard mount is more suitable to 1980's styled cabin. Late model cars and SUVs have more rounded surfaces that make placing the monitor a real challenge.

In summary, its not perfect but for the money its not that bad.
Advice: don't install it to the reverse lights. Rather install it to your plate identification lights. Its closer, cleaner and allows you to use the camera even when you are moving forward.

Works but with Interference3
First, this is not as easy to install as the ad would have you believe. The camera has to be connected to the backup light wires. I was lucky, I did not have to drill into the car, there were already holes for me to feed the wires from the camera to the backup light. The system works OK, but suffers from interference because of the the wireless connection between the camera and the viewer. It takes some time for the screen to warm up and then you get lines running through the display. Bottom line, I still would get it, I need to have some view to the rear and I get enough with this system.

Great back view camera/monitor5
GREAT UNIT. Like the 3.5" dia monitor screen that is easy to view. Resolution and color are good. I installed unit in a friend's Honda CR-V. Had to have Honda dealer remove rear interior lift gate paneling, free gratis. I soldered the camera's two wires to the backup lite wiring instead of using the furnished wire clamps that were too big to for the back-up and camera wires.
Rear view has a wide angle view. Adjusted unit to pickup object knee high at 20 " from rear of car. Certainly low enough to see a small child.
Would definately buy unit again.

This unit would also work well behind a truck or RV viewing a towed car, trailer or traffic behind.
